Planetpals Teaches Teachers At the Cornell Teacher Workshops and Conference.
This years theme for the conference and workshop is "The Environments of a Child's World". As part of the curriculum they will be feature Planetpals.com. They will also be giving away Planetpals activities, stickers and posters in the curriculum packet along with a Planetpals "Green Classroom Tips" guide. Participants will also have a chance at winning Planetpals gifts during the event. All items usable and reusable in their classroom!
According to Isabelle Jensen the cordinator of the conference, this year they are taking many steps to being green themselves as well as encouraging green classrooms. Adding Planetpals materials are the perfect solution to continue the message and get teachers to start thinking and teaching green in their classrooms as well.
Every detail of the event is environmentally coordinated to have as little carbon footprint as possible. Suggestions to visitors are as follows: "If at all possible try to car pool together; bring your own water bottles, there will be no lunch bags or boxes just trays of speciality sandwiches from a local catering company (less than a mile from the site) and no individual packet of condiments; centerpieces will be reusable; there will be recycling stations at the conference; printing on both sides of the paper; encouraging contractors and vendors to use environmentally friendly practices; signage created to be used again in the future; e-mailing as much as possible; Composting scraps and donating leftover food to a community program; fair trade, shade grown organic coffee will be served, bring your own cup or thermos".
This is a perfect example of practicing what you preach! Planetpals is proud to be part of this meaningful and important educational experience for so many teachers, as well as part of their classrooms for many years to come.
