Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value.
There are so many items found around our own home, at swap shops and town recycle centers that can be upcycled. Why not try your hand at some simple ways to repurpose discards into conversation pieces and useful objects. Many simple projects can be done with the help of your kids, too! That's teaching a valuable lesson to them in the 3 "r's" of to reduce, resuse and recycle.
We have attached some of our favorite ideas for reusing simple objects such as scratched or no longer wanted records, left over corks and discarded books. Most are easy-to-do and don't require a lot of skill or tools to create.
The next time you attempt to toss something out, think repurpose, and upcycle it!
If recycle crafts are not for you, give the unwanted items to a swap shop, recycle center or thrift, someone will be sure to make them into a treasure.
