A lesson in recycling for kids!
Chris glues some signage made with box tops
To celebrate America Recycles Day and Recycle Week we created a village complete with recycle bins and flea market using recycle materials. It taught us lessons on creative uses for old objects, as well as, mix and match play with favorite toys like legos and playmobile.
We used materials such as pizza box inserts for tables, food packaging boxes as buildings and sidewwalks and discarded toy pieces from other toys. It's fun to come up with ideas and be resourceful when we need a specific item such as a paint brush for the resident artist. What can you reuse?
All in all, a fun day full of creativity, ingenuity and important messages.

Scenes from a recycled village

Chris 5 cuts food packages to create sidewalk pieces

We used old candy containers for recycle bins
Brenden 10 helps create scenes
Andrew 8 helps with final additions
A Villager recycles bottles at the recycle bins (we used mini chess game parts for bottles). A Painter does portraits with an unused make up brush

A flea market is a good lesson on how people can recycle items to give a new life

We made handmade signs with fun store names we all participated in thinking up and learned how to make bubble letters
Santa's village (another of Chris's great ideas) utilizing pieces from last years playmobile advent kit. Look at that, a big line of kids wait patiently to sit on Santa's lap!
