Actually, I really do. Remember him, not just his work[s].
I'm not clear on who you are thinking of, but I hope it was a good thing. For some reason, your post sounds ominous (spelling?) to me.
Piques my interest, Marte. Sounds a tad regretful, and yet...
Good one!

"To everything, turn, turn, turn..." And this reminded me of my father.
Some days, we just remember certain things that other days do not allow.
THANK YOU, all of you!

I'm ?a bit "shook"? at the moment having only just now read the written transcript of the video of Bill Moyers interviewing Rita Dove. [My computer and I -- at least currently -- lack sound equipment for videos which is why I read the whole thing in words.] For any/all poetry-lovers, check this out on Truthout.com, o.k.? [I'm no good at sending urls; "you youngsters" will have to do that for me! ;-)]

For those of you who were (understandably!) unclear as to this post: They are my "past tense"/"third party" rendition of the opening lines of T.S. Eliot's poem Ash Wednesday. As to my one personal "brief encounter" with him in person -- that's more "prose" (prosaic) than poetry. I do hope some of you will call up the Bill Moyers interview. If you do, I'd love to hear how it ?"struck you".

Once again my many many thanks for these responses!!
P.S., Cathy:

I'd love to know more about ?"the why and the that"? of this reminding you of your father! That connection is strong for me, too. ;-)

And Algis, I am THRILLED!! to find one of your wonderful type/poems on my blog site!! Dear old -- as I occasionally sort of behind my hand referred to him -- "tough shit eliot" would have been too!!!!
Oh, and ILL: Yes, indeed! A bit ominous. That was his original tone and intent. I DO hope some of you can follow my vague directions to the "truthout" website to find this -- for me, any way -- thoroughly stunning exchange between Bill Moyers and the extraordinary poet Rita Dove!
I'll check it out when I get a chance.

by: Bill Moyers, Moyers & Co. | Video
Bill welcomes former U.S. Poet Laureate Rita Dove, who this very week received the National Medal of Arts from President Obama. Dove served two terms as Poet Laureate, the youngest and the first African American to be named to that prestigious position. Through an intimate conversation and select readings, Moyers and Dove explore American history, language, culture, and ideas. They also talk about the responsibility – and controversy – that comes with editing a prestigious anthology, as Dove was recently tasked for The Penguin Anthology of 20th Century American Poetry.
