LD Jackson Political Realities Is Moving
That’s right, you read the title correctly. Political Realities is moving to a new home. For several weeks now, the blog has been agonizingly slow when I am in the Dashboard. No matter if I am moderating comments, checking the spam folder, checking the stats for the day, or writing a new post, it has been taking forever. After doing a little time on the live chat support with Hostmonster, and viewing the logs on the cPanel, I discovered it was because they were throttling my account. Even though I get less traffic than many blogs, they were still throttling the speed with which I could access the blog and do the things I need to do.
Forthwith, I began the search for a new hosting provider, and I didn’t have to look far. I am an admin at another blog you may know well, Maggie’s Notebook. I have helped her out with some things technical from time to time and I knew her blog was amazingly fast. There was never a glitch or slow down, either when I was reading her posts, or working in the Dashboard. Her blog traffic is much greater than that of Political Realities, so I asked her who her hosting provider was.
Enter SunAnt, a hosting and web company based in Wisconsin. All of their hosting is done on Rackspace, on the Cloud. They analyzed the blog and we came to an agreement on the price. They have already grabbed the files they will need to move the site to their server. They will be pushing it out on Monday and by Wednesday, the DNS will be pointing to what will hopefully be a much faster and more responsive Political Realities. Shortly afterwards, possibly next weekend, I will be deploying a new theme I have been tweaking to my liking. I am hopeful you will like it.
There may be a few hours that Political Realities will not be available. It shouldn’t take long and rest assured, we are not going away. We are just moving to a much better hosting provider.
