LD Jackson Islam – The Religion Of Peace Strikes Again
Can someone explain to me why or how Islam is called the religion of peace? Why would anyone dare to classify it as such, given the propensity of its followers to engage in mindless acts of violence? Such acts of violence as attacking the American embassies in Egypt and Libya, killing our ambassador to Libya, J Christopher Stevens, and three of his senior security officials, as they were trying to evacuate staff? How is it that they get a pass on their violence, no matter if it is directed at the United States, or at differing factions of Muslims?
This violence has come about because of an America film, as yet unnamed, that supposedly depicts Muhammad in a negative light. The film was written, produced, and directed by Sam Bacile, an American citizen. The information I have says the film is in English, but someone dubbed it into Arabic. It has not been released yet, but excerpts have been shown on YouTube. Because of that, two of our embassies have been attacked, our flag has been torn down and replaced by the black flag of Islam, and one of our citizens has been killed. The first response of the embassy in Egypt was to release a statement, saying they were sorry someone had tried to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims.
The U.S. Embassy said in a statement that it “condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims — as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions.”
“Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy,” the statement read. “We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.”
The Obama administration has issued its own statement, saying the embassy had not cleared their statement with Washington. I almost feel sorry for Jay Carney for having to field the questions he will no doubt hear in today’s press briefings.
(Hot Air)The White House is disavowing a statement from their own Cairo embassy that apologized for anti-Muslim activity in the United States.
“The statement by Embassy Cairo was not cleared by Washington and does not reflect the views of the United States government,” a senior administration official told POLITICO…
“Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet. The United States deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. Our commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. But let me be clear: There is never any justification for violent acts of this kind,” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a Tuesday statement.
I’ll give the Obama administration the benefit of the doubt and not question if they really believe in the statement released by the embassy in Egypt. For the time being, I’ll leave that speculation to others and focus on the real issue at hand. How much longer are we going to coddle Islam, walking on eggshells, trying not to offend their religious sensibilities? How many times have movies been made that showed Jesus Christ in a less than favorable light? While Christians may have protested, I can not recall one single incident in which we resorted to violence to get our point across. Why does Islam get such a pass when its followers decide the best way to protest is to invade our embassies, tear down our flag, and kill our citizens?
I am getting tired of hearing that Islam is a religion of peace. Its followers proclaim it at every opportunity. Loudly and forcefully, they tell everyone how Islam is a peaceful religion, yet their actions speak louder than their words. The attacks on our embassies in Egypt and Libya are just the latest attempts to show just how peaceful they are. Other attempts would include their persecution of women, and other factions of Islam who disagree among themselves. If you haven’t noticed, Sunni and Shitte Muslims can not get along with each other, much less anyone else. I’ll not bother to go into the differences they have, but suffice it to say, their favored method of showing their disagreement is to shoot, behead, blow up, and otherwise kill the followers of the other sect. Yeah, that sounds really peaceable to me.
It is past the time when we should be calling a spade what it really is. Islam is not a religion of peace. In fact, it is anything but that. I am sure there are peaceful Muslims who exist. I am sure they do good works and choose not to persecute someone, just because they do not follow the same religion. But how can we continue to accept Islam as the religion of peace when the majority of the news coming out of the Islamic world is death, mayhem, and violence? Islam is not a religion of peace. It can not be placated, and thus many of its followers. It’s time we recognized that and acted accordingly. It’s time we realized responding to attacks like these with platitudes is just not enough. If they insist on violence, we should remove our presence from those countries and let them enact their violence upon each other. At the same time, we should warn them of the consequences, if they choose to export that violence beyond their borders. If they will recognize nothing but a big stick, then a big stick it should be.

Great post and rated.
any religion is a danger, since all admit that logic can not be allowed to get in the way of dogma.
but don't blame islam for being violent right now, the middle east has been under attack by commercial, diplomatic, military and covert bribery and assassination by the west since oil became necessary to national dominance. it just happens that islam is the religion on top of the oil, the cultural glue organizing the resistance to western aggression.

The words “crusades” and “inquisition” come to mind. If we can dare call Christianity a peaceful religion, we certainly can declare Islam to be one also.
If you haven’t noticed, Sunni and Shitte Muslims can not get along with each other, much less anyone else.
You should lived in Ireland a few years back; the Catholics and Protestants had an occasional squabble also. And in France during the days of the Huguenots.
This kind of thing is not peculiar to Islam, Ld, all religions seem to have vicious moments…and often the moments turn into years and centuries.
Today it is Islam…tomorrow Christianity may take another turn. If the religious nuts of the right get into power, it might happen sooner than anyone thinks.
Um.. 1929 HEVRON (cough cough).
Yeah.
Btw the way, great post. :-) - R
This is like saying that Christianity is a violent religion because of certain Neo-Nazi groups and the KKK, or that the Shao-Lin monks prove that Buddhism is a religion of violence, or (insert malformed, poorly researched opinion HERE).
You're an idiot.
