Bio
6 Word Bio: RUDELY AWOKEN-- MOSTLY OUTSPOKEN-- REMAINING UNBROKEN ****************************************** My life would shock most people. It is a little known fact that there are quite a number of those on the fringes who may not ever see relief. I am that one you never met, in that we are kept separate by way of societal demands that the poor remain silent, biddable, childlike nonentities without a say as to our care or how it's to be provided. ****************************************** I tend to view things as a selfdisicplined person without advantages. If this won't set with some, then I guess they are not ready to remember who we are as one entity, governed by everyone inclusively. I will not cease to point out any diseased thinking I run across here in the USA. ****************************************** I stand in defense of the weakened, the brutally treated, the denied, the ones for whom life's trial can be too much. I stand with my thought, even when my legs are weakened, my stride not strong. ****************************************** Walk with me on this journey, now, wherein we may ask each other: How much is the value of one person affected by what is generally assumed about them? **** See me also at THE POOR WOMAN'S RETROACTIVE DIARY, (go to LINKS below, if you're interested) a commentary on the level of care I was allowed throughout my time seeking help.

OC:Linework Smackdown: Portrait of SPAM(+recipe!)

Rate: 19 Flag

Spamburger by PW

Here's your chance to really bring on the linework, my fellow sketch artisans. Pros such as Kim and greenheron might find this too easy, but let them also bring a recipe or two along for the fun of it.
After all, we are under attack, big time, this afternoon, and must rally. To keep our spirits up, I have chosen this here drawing exercise. Hopefully, it will help to drown out the spammers here on OS.

Sharpen that pencil, greenheron, all you want, but you'll have to work that pencil to a nub in order to keep ahead of the game!

Here's my recipe with drawing: A Spamburger!

You'll find its source (along with lots of other recipes) here:

http://www.spam.com/recipes/lightened-up-spamburger-hamburgers

Ingredients
  • 1 (12-ounce) can SPAM® Lite, cut into 4 slices
  • 1/4 cup reduced-calorie mayonnaise or salad dressing
  • 4 hamburger buns or Kaiser rolls, split
  • 4 (1-ounce) slices light American cheese
  • 4 leaves lettuce
  • 1 tomato, sliced

  1. 1

In large skillet, cook SPAM® Lite until lightly browned.

  2. 2

Spread mayonnaise on cut sides of buns. Place SPAM®, cheese, lettuce and tomato on bottom halves of buns. Cover with top halves of buns.

Have at, all you spam-dueling artisans! Sharpen that graphite till it may pierce to the very heart of spamdom!

    Arrrrrrr!

    Pea-Dubb

C'mon, greenheron! Show me what ya got!
let's shoot out the spammers by posting our drawings of REAL Spam!
:)
nice sketch, poor woman!
Thanks, dianaani!
care to lay your own smack down in response?
;)
SPAM! SPAM! SPAMMMMMMM!! :D
Hey, Tink! Glad to see your ol' fuzzy self here!
Nice kitty!
*tosses him a tasty spamburger*
Your drawing is perfect , Pea-Dubb. We are under spam attack - BIG time! I hate Spam!

R♥
It's not that I can't draw, or that I can hash up a quick eggs, spam and potatos recipe -- canna scan the drawing, lass. I'm stuck with a lappy that's old and my scanner software ain't on this one. Plus -- well plus I don't have my drawing space anymore -- more's the pity. I'm not good enough an artist to draw my spamilicious recipe view.

Even so, bring on the Spamwich, the Spam and Eggs, the Spam on Toast and Spam on Rye, babeee!

--r--
Fusie:care to join me in taking away their edge on the feed?

dunniteowl: A wee spammer popinjay might be funny. Wish you could join in the drawing fun!
Wait! Have you a digital camera? One which may upload into your laptop?
Just a thought.....
How wonderful, first there are people who can make crumpled paper lovely, now you do it with a spam sandwich. I feel like picking off the sesame seeds to eat them first. Talent is amazing, I doubt I could make a peacock look lovely.

Rated for making me smile.
Thanks for the positive feedback!
Won't you at least try one of your own Spam recipe? Just a teeny weeny lil' ol' sketcheroony?
How can we possibly follow that sandwich?! It would take me a couple of days to even come close.
Algis: I think you're a sweet man.

Phyllis: I don't care if anyone's drawing is perfect or childishly scrawled on a bathroom wall. The point is to make a point about the spam clogging the Feed! Make a collage....do n abstract expressionistic version of the visceral response to spammers. Build sculpture out of marshmallow fluff--I do not care. Just make something in protest--anything would be nice!
Pretty please with you fave action adventure flick on it?
Well, if you folks aren't going to take my rants seriously then all I have to say is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anwy2MPT5RE&feature=related
jmac: i posted this a few weeks back, if you recall. Best Python EVER! LOL
"I don't want any Spam!"
LOL
Portrait or landscape, I'll be back in a bit, she replied, reaching down to pick up the gauntlet.
I like mine on plain white bread while but spam is spam it all looks like dog do once it's run over. My bad.........and my wife won't let me have sharp objects. Nice picture though EP FOR THE PICTURE. crowd roaring in the background........very nicely done.....o/e
nilesite: Well! So glad you could join me! I can hardly wait to see what the upshot of your participation will be!
"Landscape with Spam"
Hmmmmmm.....
:)

older/exasperated: Too bad about the sharp objects.
Wait! No EP! Not even jokingly, please! LOL
After all, greenheron and Kim Gamble have yet to join the fray.
Now THERE are two EP worthy artists.
But thanks for the positive strokes, all the same....
I made you an Ode to SPAM...

This is wonderful, Poor Woman !

I love the subject but I love your drawing even more.
Is oc linework smackdown the tag ?
I tried, but wasn't as subtle as you.
Seriously, that is one beautiful drawing !

Great ( & timely ) challenge, thank you.
Kim: You are too kind.
Where's your post?
Oh. And yes, that is the tag.
And I found a swell recipe I just know everyone will want to try! http://open.salon.com/blog/nilesite/2012/06/08/poor_womans_spamackdown_recipe
Awesome! Yay, nilesite!
Well now......

I am so little the artist that I don't even own a pencil!

I do, however, own a good appetite and offer my gourmand services to all you budding spam chefs. You cook 'em up an' I'll put 'em down!

Great fun blog Po' Woman; keep 'em comin'.....
.
sky: We are working on it! Some of us who are not artistically inclined are joining forces anyway with words, video, etc.
Time to highlight the spam problem so OS staff finally get the point. We take back the feed all weekend wit our anti-spam slogans and fun posts, rating each other's posts to keep the feed running more smoothly.
Try it!You may enjoy it!
;)
oooohhhh, PW, you are showing your (not-pork) chops here ~
Nice! Excellent sesame seed re-creation. : )
Just Thinking: You are so sweet! Thank you for your encouraging words.

Now...c'mon..how 'bout an anti-spammer post from you?
:)
We should eat it while we don't occupy Open Salon and flag spammers. R
Well done, Pea-Dubb!!! This should ... um ... draw some fun sketches over the weekend!

wink,wink ; )
Trudge: Have you been reading dunniteowl's latest?
:)

Kate! So good to see you here tonight, my friend! I wasn't going to check in again, yet couldn't sleep (new dog in neighborhood, doing the worried barking thing that new dogs do)I'm glad i came back by!
:)
Now...your challenge is to find a recipe you would like to draw, and then get cracking, lady, as soon as you have time enough to do so!
But will you?
I really hope you'll try!
:)
Ah, Pea-Dubb, I hope the dog settles and you get some sleep. I sent you a PM .... we'll see!
Kate: He finally quieted down about 11:30, and I did get some sleep--had to sleep late a little, tho'. Thanks for your kind thoughts.
Hope you enjoy your family time this weekend, and that the weather holds.
:)
spam, i shall never allow it across my tongue.
personal issues re. spam, when i was force fed it by my
Mother, who was indeed the psychological bad mother at dinner.
luckily, we had Joseph. our doggy. he seemed to like
it when i dropped it surreptitiously on the floor.

new dogs. such damn fools, these dogs.........sorry about
this canine situation. It is not frivolous to say
that a dog is messing up your sleep.
Gal needs her sleep.
James: Thanks for the note of sympathy. I happen to love a good dog. Crazy about most mutts. And they tend to like me pretty well too. I know this new dog can hear me even if I talk so softly my human neighbors can't hear me. So I just kept reassuring him that all is well and that a new place can have different smells and sounds, but that it's okay. I think this helped. However, if this were to continue past a week or two, I'd be forced to complain to the authorities, so we'll see how things develop.
Wish I could have me own mutt to love......
Love the sketch, but am about to retch...
Matt: I may be able to draw such fare, but never expect that I'd be able to eat any of it!
Great job, missy! How did you manage to stare at that disgusting sandwich for as long as it took to draw it?! You get extra points for that.
heron: It wasn't easy! LOL Thank you so much for your nice words of encouragement.

Now...where's yours, my dear?Hmmmm?
So, who turned out the lights?!
No doubt OS did! LOL We were being bad little bloggers over the weekend, were we not?
