Century of Words

Rate: 9 Flag

First-born of four, Scots-Irish, born on beach, delivered by cardiologist, not OB, making for ugly baby, raised in mountains, miss them still.

Smart kid, teacher’s pet, learned to answer only when no one else could. Skinny tall kid, attracted bullies ‘til they saw craziness in eyes and backed away.

Peaked early, never satisfied. Respect granted those who can do what I can’t, others not so much.

Loyal, not grudge-holder, but prone to think everyone’s my friend.

Great with kids and dogs. Cry easily at movies. Divorced dad, but lucky in love late in life. Write only when something unique presents.

I wonder where those bullies are now.
This is quite wonderful Randy......
I cry at movies too.
Everyone IS your friend Randy... How could they not be?

"learned to answer only when no one else could" Smart man :)
"Lucky in love late in life."

Hear you there. And she is lucky, too.
Lea: I'm constantly afraid that she'll wake up from the trance and file a warranty claim.

Gary: Thanks. There are more of us out there than will admit it.

Olga: Oh, the bullies are still there, if only as motivators deep in the psyche. Your mind works on a tangent, doesn't it? Must be that "life after death" thing, huh?

Coyote...: Kind words won't dampen my self-loathing and humility after reading your 10-squared.

Greg: If you don't have anything nice to say, ask Greg to fill in for you.

Hyblaen: Your perception indicates you have more to say on this subject.
'Loyal', and 'prone to think everyone's my friend', I love all these little peeks into your life Randy, I can picture the mountains, the bullies, the love late in life, the kids and dogs lucky enough to be great around you..
Lovely.
"Respect granted to those who can do what I can't" - an achievement, I think. I've never seen that up close.
I really enjoyed this. I'm glad you thought the idea was unique enough to pursue writing about it. Rated for integrity. Thanks for playing along!
Randy, I'm a returning student, & you should see how many adults can be bullies too :/ even kind ones, you wouldn't expect it of.
I try not to hold the floor too often, or to be fussy with those that do, but it's a fine fine line, and I don't always make it on either count.
Julie
Sounds just like you, friend.

So when are you writing something heavy and profound? ;-)
