Three quotes from “Fault line”, a 2009 thriller novel by Barry Eisler:
1. Once selected, candidates [for the military's Joint Special Operations Command] were put through…"the Final,"…in which the candidate was drugged, hooded, flown to a third-world country he had never visited and whose language he didn't speak, and left with no money, passport, or anything else but the clothes on his back. His objective was to carry out a designated clandestine act that would involve a prison term if it were discovered, then return to the United States undetected.
2. Everyone had bedtime rituals. Some needed a bath; others, a cup of tea. Some liked to read in bed; others, to listen to music. Ben preferred a room sweep with a Glock in a two-handed, chest-level grip.
3. Overall, [Ben] gave the situation a suck factor of about 9.8….

I have only one major complaint, and it's regarding the dynamic of the relationship between the two brothers who are the main characters. If you do read the book, drop me a line afterwards because I'd like to discuss with you off-line. Even with that major complaint, I still love this book.
