Three quotes from “Dark Consequences”, a 2004 book of horror stories by television writer and former professional wrestler Ed Ferrara:
1. As the gentle breeze blew his smoke-stained sheer curtains inward like two ghostly hands reaching toward him, it also carried with it the smells of the city—roasted nuts, old hot dogs and burnt kabobs, diesel exhaust, and sun-baked urine all mixed together in a pungent combination that was both nauseating and comforting.
2. The squeals and squeaks got louder and more frenzied as the mob of vermin edged closer to his head, eventually enveloping it and drowning out the frenzied screams in his mind, replacing them with darkness.
3. Crash. Boom. Slice. Say goodnight, Carl.
