Bio
I am not defined by the things I own, the car I drive or the clothes I wear...well, maybe the clothes. I'm almost ALWAYS spreading aloha with my shirts. I'm an avid SCUBA diver, home theater geek, Monty Python fan, and film-buff. I enjoy sparring with street-preachers, and have pity for Watchtower Society members who are just shaking in their shoes with anticipation of the end of the world...they need to listen to Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" for a few hundred times...THAT should make them feel better. I'm a skeptic. I'm a foe of revealed religion. I don't believe in chakras, crystals or Atlantis (unless it's the casino). Thomas Paine is my favorite Deist and Thomas Jefferson would have to be the second. More info click the link. http://www.adherents.com/people/pw/Keith_Wright.html

My opinion on Obama's speech to our schools.

Rate: 3 Flag

I wonder if anyone feels stupid after reading the speech...and are honest enough to admit they were dead wrong about opposing this simple attempt at inspiring the children of this nation to become responsible students, and in turn, responsible adults.

To those of you who still oppose this speech (It's, of course, still absolutely fine to oppose the president all you want): Shame on you!

It would be great if some of the people so freaked out about the speech feel dumb afterwards, but I'm not holding my breath. These people seem to take pride in stupid, hate-filled opposition to anything Obama does, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
I am raising my hand and I feel ashamed that I thought this speech was going to be about his political agenda. It's not. It's a great speech, and I think each President we have going forward should make a speech like this on the first day of school to every child throughout the United States.

So yes, I feel really really stupid.
*Why* did you think it was going to be about his political agenda, 363? Contrary to every announcement made about it?
I applaude you for your honesty...and for your courage to become a better person.
363nomore, you proved me wrong. Thank you for that.
