Just received the following review, which made me feel very good:
Alphine B., Iowa
I have just finished reading The Brothers' Keepers. Your book made such an impression on me. I persuaded my husband to read it and I was happy as we could discuss it together when he was through with it. What a story! What a tribute to how one can do so well in spite of all that he or she has endured. Our hearts went out to Dewey...well, to all of the brothers for that matter. What determination to keep all of the brothers together and fed and warm. I have cried many tears, even when I finished it, and I think of the brothers often. I grew up in the early 30s; we weren't wealthy, but my parents were there for us. One thing I recall so vividly is cutting cardboard every night to fit in the soles of my shoes to keep my feet dry. I thought nothing of it; I think all of my schoolmates did the same thing. I was so very impressed with the book, My husband and I still discuss it and it still will bring tears to my eyes. I have shared it with other friends. It is so refreshing to get a book that lives on in your mind/heart when you are finished with it.
Thanks so much for the book. Alphine
