Bio
I am a painter of the New York scene, a professional photo editor of travel guidebooks, and a devourer of books, articles and everything under the sun, both political and historical. My aim in life is to leave a record of what I see around me, blended with my love of the absurd. It keeps me going, I guess. My artwork is on my website. www.strata-art.com.

Very cool. Your satire is spot on. rAted!
I only hope those Blue Dogs hang in there against the Old Dogs.
That is a yellow-brick road those dogs are lying on, no?
Oh my my. With pups like these it probably is at this point.

Sigh..
Great one Richard! Poignant for the times...and purtee! (Rated).
Beautiful art...I like your illustrations the best of all the cartoons. The politics behind it are funny, too.
I want to thank you all so much for the feedback and helpful comments. Makes me inspired to do more cartoons. (I have many up my sleeve-- you'll see.)

Jane-- "Blue Dog Democrat" as a term in our national debate is fairly recent as far as I can see.

I will need to delve more deeply into the Blue Dog term origins as these things are always interesting but sometimes murky with lots of twists and turns.

On a related note I remember reading about "red state / blue state" as a concept, and how furious the Republicans were at being associated with the color red.

Somehow it seemed like poetic justice, but that's another issue..

Thanks again, all.

Blue Dogs should be ejected from the party ....... if they want to be republicans, let them run as such ...... of course the democratic party would then have no one to blame for their failure to enact their "progressive" promises ...
Why can't Rahm Emmanuel be the pit bull that he was before he took his current job? He should be dealing with these toothless old fellers. (They really do look toothless and weak. Maybe a poke with a stick, or a few cats will make them move on.)
