Snow

Rate: 13 Flag

I know that Snow is a recurring theme in my blogging, but not because I have much actual experience with the stuff. It snows about once every decade or so in central Texas, and the populace mostly hides out for the afternoon until it is completely gone. I do, however, listen to more than my share of Christmas music, and recently I heard a clever rendition (by Kevin Koelbl and Heidi Godt) of the immortal holiday song Snow, from the even more immortal movie White Christmas. At just about the same time, our own Troy Kimmell started predicting snow for Friday (Monday would have been preferred, but hey).

Anyway, please enjoy the original, delightful version of Snow. Hopefully, tomorrow's snow won't  degenerate into sleet or ice, and I, too, will be enjoying the snow. Wish me luck!

This will probably jinx us, and I'll have to work all day Friday, and it'll just be windy and cold.
i'm waiting with bated breath also, SNOW!! COME ON DOWN!
Yes, the weathermen here in Houston say we may get some snow too. Like you, I expect it just to be windy, rainy, and cold... plus work.
I'm here with you, waiting for the 'snow'. Maybe it will be A snow, one lone flake wafting around... I am always amused by the scurry to get ready for our snows here: gravel trucks are being prepared and schools are posting weather updates. We'll see what happens tomorrow!
Please. No snow Friday. I have many things to finish @ work. Many bridges to drive over to get there. Just, please no snow Friday.
Delightful! I just love this....xox
Bing Crosby simply means Christmas to me! Great movie!
It snowed a little in Iowa today. Not enough to stick but enough to piss me off. I feel like we just got rid of it. I sorta hope Texas gets a little, at least a dusting.

BTW - I looooove the Dylan cd. How about the "Must Be Santa" with the Clinton/Johnson/Nixon lyrics? And, have you watched the video? I want to go to THAT Christmas party! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVs6X9yIM_k
Waking, that video reminded me of a party right out of the '60s. Dylan is so cool! And not who we think he is, I believe.

Middle, there's no movie quite like White Christmas! (With the possible exception of Holiday Inn.)

Robin, you and me both!

mypsyche, the getting readi is oftentimes more sturm and drang than the sturm and drang itself.

McGarrett, you and I are just co-pessimists.

Ariana, I'm baiting my breath now.
It was warm and windy here today, Rich. I'm happy to share our wealth of cold and wet with you, though. And if you ever get to really wanting that "snow" experience, I have a shovel here with your name on it.
we had snow here today, too. I only whimpered a little.
Style, I long to clear a path and lift a spade of snow.

Julie, I'd love to stay up with you but I recommend a little shuteye
Go to sleep
And dream
Of snow.
I've never heard that song before. Thanks! I love his voice.
I always thought Texas was hot, hot, hot. England never has proper snow these days.

I miss the snow but could live without the Christmas music.
Did I say 'delightful'? Ai, yai, yai!

Patricia K, what a treat, to hear Snow for the first time!

Linda Cooper, your impression of Texas weather is spot on! And I get where you're coming from, vis-a-vis a possible quietus, nay even X-nay on the X-mas music!
We're getting snow here, too, Rich, but it's Irish snow: it clogs up the roads and driveways, melting in the daytime and freezing in the nighttime. Slick and dangerous, not the stuff of dreams, I'm afraid. Still, we'll always have youtube: thank you for Bing and to WUS for Dylan.
