Well, I have been trying to change my luck by reading blogs and finding ones that I can apply a random act of kindness to by making a nice blog banner for them. (Below, you can see what I have done so far.)
A holiday surprise, if you would.
Although my mood has been, (and continues to be) black.. I still feel the need to be nice and maybe do a little fishing for my soul. It can never hurt.
..Just click on each banner to go the person's blog..

I hope the weather is not as bad as when I looked at it the last time. Keep warm at all costs.

People, remember that tip button!
You can read why I can't have a bank account right over here:

So.... no tips for me. Thanks for the thought, though :)
You Rock, My Friend!!!
Personally, Ric, I understand why you want to shy away from banks. Your concerns are only the tip of the iceberg. My husband WORKS for a bank (not in the money part) and can't even get fully paid, as you know from my blog.
When all is said and done, our masochistic relationship with banks will stand as the biggest and longest period of collective insanity in U.S. history. Maybe not the worst, but surely the most insane. My "pop" came when I gave up my credit cards, realizing that by gum, their "terms" said they could change the interst rate on the cards AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON. In other words, you would be better off playing with rattlesnakes.
But of course the biggest reason to avoid them is because they are thieves and social succubuses have no social value whatsoever, despite their protestations to the contrary.
More importantly, I love the headers you have done so far.
Big Bro Hug,

"I heard a bird sing
in the depth of December,
A magical thing
And sweet to remember."
Out of darkness, comes light.
Bless you, my friend.
I'll be cruising OS today... so, watch for me. :)
Some say love it is a river
that drowns the tender reed.
Some say love it is a razor
that leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love it is a hunger
an endless aching need.
I say love it is a flower
and you it's only seed .
It's the heart afraid of breaking
that never learns to dance.
It's the dream afraid of waking that never takes the chance.
It's the one who won't be taken
who cannot seem to give
and the soul afraid of dying that never learns to live .
When the night has been too lonely
and the road has been too long
and you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows
lies the seed
that with the sun's love
in the spring
becomes the rose.
I wonder what some of the others are to be. This is like opening Christmas Presents.

Thank you, Ric.
:D
And mamma ain't too proud to beg......
as far as the tip thing, do you have a cell phone? you can use obopay - free to receive...
May I ask a question about the size of images for banners? I was messing around with some images and when I saved as .png and uploaded I had to wait for the image to load. So I kept making it a smaller size (file) and still had the same thing. Then I saved it as .jpg and the file was the same size but suddenly the image loaded at the same time as the rest of the page.
Why is that? If I wanted to increase the file size/quality, how high can you go? I assumed I had to have a file no bigger than 25whatevers.
PNGs don't seem to work as good for some reason.. I find JPEG's are the best way to go.
Hope this helped you out a bit, Paris.
The Banner Savant in me had to fix it, and I did. I cloned the ends.. which was a challenge in it's self because the background appears to be wrinkled and I gave her a custom, chrome, font.
And so there you go!
Thanks again.
Thanks much,
Monte
Ric, I know I'm just repeating myself here, but I want to thank you again for the great banner. I've looked at all the others, and I think your work is just outstanding, guy.
Thank you so very much for your generosity, your creativity, and your spirit.
A million thanks!
Although, you could give it a try.. You just don't know till you try.
No really, we (you) need to find a way to get paid for this stuff. It is truly a talent and you're so good at it.

For a guy who does not get out much, you sure have a HUGE impact. These are gorgeous and illustate the talent that drove you to a graphics degree.
I proudly claim The Naked Truth as mine. I love the flowers particularly because they were from you garden.
I wish you only the best. You deserve it.
Umbrellas's , Fortunate Pen's and Sandra no longer Miller's banners are a slice of a picture of some flowers Theresa got for mother's day.
O'Kathryn's and Marple Fank's banners were taken in my back yard..
Verbal Remedy's banner day lillys were from my garden.
M.A.H.'s banner pic was taken by me at a local park near my home.
John's Living in Partial Light picture was taken in my back yard.
And Lisa Kern's blog, Not Quite All There Is photo was taken in my front yard.
The rest were either rendered from bits and pieces in Photoshop, were backgrounds already in use by the blog owner or are photos taken by a friend of mine.
Karma bookmarked and a +1 on a thumbups rating!
As a side note; I finished this banner, shut off the computer and went to bed. The next morning, (Friday the 15th) my computer quit working.
What a treat!

As I told him, it's like I'm in high school and I've been accepted into the "in" crowd. This might not attract any more readers to my blog but it has made me feel great!
And I believe in Karma. You are SO going to receive great things!

RicTresa. I can't see, but you wear the cowboy hat?
You found one straw hat at a Bar Mitzvas Synagogue?
God bless you. What a nice cowboy hat. I tip my llama.
I'm rooting for more reads from You. Who needs help?

Great! A dirty pile of all saints.
A laundry pile of robe threads.
I saying:`Whatever this do says?

The flow of Ya post is magnificent.
Veracity. You explain yourself clear.

It's good. This courage means Ya can slop about and fetch truth.
Ya care. Ya think to Ya self:`his`self. You remind of this:`O You.
I was told a few days ago:`Pa Pa. You can't say:` shut up to others.
Why? I asked. To say:`Shut-Up is not nice. O, You can say shut up.
