Pelosi: Single-Payer Amendment Breaks Obama's Health Care Promise

An amendment to allow states to pursue single-payer health care without incurring insurance-industry lawsuits was stripped from the House bill, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday, adding that it would break President Obama's commitment to people keeping their current insurance plan if they like it.

Geeze, Ric. I think it's time for that cigarette! You keep reading about these pusillanimous politicians and you're going to need to go back and read my post again. I write about the serious stuff that truly matters. After working on so many political campaigns hoping for change and then nada and now Pelosi, well, I quit over 20 years ago but it's giving me the urge!

Yeah, I read (skimmed) this on Huff, and don't understand...the in's and out's of this whole thing baffle me. Owell, sorry to say, but I just got a call from my doctor's office to come in for (regular) flu shot tomorrow, and next Tuesday I'm getting carpal tunnel surgery (one week after seeing surgeon, tho a couple months after asking for referral)(and ten years or more after first realizing I needed it, but did nothing)...none of it (directly) costing me, no paperwork, no insurance companies, all routine. Why the hell all this is just too too difficult for American legislators to provide to you-all, I just cannot understand...

The way I look at it, the only thing that matters is what is passable, so the only thing that matters is what can pass the senate -- so work back from there.

I like the Swiss system, so maybe I will just move there.
