Dear Honorable Mr. Bardwell,
I could not help but find it amusing your deep consideration for children born of interracial intercourse . Thank you for caring so much about people like me. Please look at my picture. I am 52 years old. I was born before interacial marriage was legal in this country.
However, without a doubt, my parents were of different races. I can attest that children of mixed races do endure some challenges. And it is from adults like you that inflict their ignorance on us.
Yet, some mixed children do alright inspite of people like you. Could you imagine an interacial child growing up to be president of the United States of America? The same United States that your Parish belongs.
Other interacial children have grown up to be Oscar, Tony, and Grammy winners. Others have become Hall of Fame athletes, Pulitzer Prize winners, and Nobel Peace Prize winners, business tycoons, teachers, lawyers, and legislators. Millions of others have grown up to be wonderful citizens and parents.
How could someone of your intolerance be put in a postion to impose your bigotry on others? Why do you consider it a "problem" when openminded people have no issue with interacial children? You do not treat everyone equally. Interracial couples have a right to be married by a Justice of the Peace.
How you have been allowed to impose your ignorance on society for 34 years is beyond me. This is backwards thinking even by Louisana standards.
You stated you have piles of black friends that have been to your house and used your toilet. My, what a lucky bunch of Negroes they must be. You also admitted that you have made some mistakes. Well, I am not one of your friends, and the biggest mistake you ever made was to label me as someone who would need any concern of someone the likes of you.
Again, Sir. Please kiss my interracial ass.

I hear you on the letter---but am mostly glad to "see" you. Stick around for awhile! Roger
Chicago Guy.. my one hour Saturday radio show went 3 hours p/day, five days a week. Mon-Fri 6-9am. I do miss OS.
Just a guess, but I think Bardwell's brain is circa 1960 or earlier....he needs to get out more.
I am happy..very happy to see your face, and I agree not let the bigot anywhere near your ass, or other body parts. I'm with Roger...staick around man!
great job on your show, I tuned in this morning but the kidlets were too loud, or my computer too quiet, but will try again. Great to see you back!

That's the complaints department. And yeah, what's up with a 44 cent stamp?
My coworker gave me this story today, and I was stunned. Not so much as the bigotry...when you're biracial, you witness it everywhere...but I was more shocked at the glaring flaws in logic coming from someone that educated. What I'm most pissed at, though, was the old standard of, "maybe it's wrong thinking, but since it's out there, I'm not going to do my part to change it." Man, I'm sick of that type of thinking.
And I know you are, too. Thanks for the letter. PLEASE send it.
Bardwell is in fact in an unincorporated area of Tangipahoa Parish...
The appropriate address for him, according to his information filed with the appropriate election officials is: 23288 Bardwell Road Ponchatoula, LA 70454
~Wanders off chuckling evilly~
I told you...he's an ELECTED official... where to find him is, by law, public information.
~Smiles evilly~
Thanks.
MASC (Multiracial Americans of Southern California) disagrees with the judge’s assertion that mixed race people “suffer.” If any issues faced by multiracial people exist, they often stem from having to contend with the negative attitudes and beliefs about our community by outsiders who hold prejudiced and racist views. Research shows that the experience of the multiracial has been incorrectly pathologized, and that their identity formation and overall adjustment is healthy. We also find that there is often a greater ability to interact with and an increased respect for different ethnic/cultural/racial groups. MASC recognizes that President Obama is multiracial, and asserts that his racial/ethnic background has served to benefit him rather than cause him to “suffer.”
MASC, a nonprofit in existence for 20 years, and many similar nonprofits locally and nationally in the US firmly oppose any person who defies the 1967 Supreme court decision that lifted the ban on interracial marriages.
My complaint has been duly noted and assigned a file number.
Damn, now if I ever run for president, you bet my letter will resurface.
