Things you can do without a cat in the house

Rate: 15 Flag

first run 002

1.      Oversleep. No meow wakeup calls.

2.      Turn off the lights, heat, fans, and radio when you leave the house.

3.      Make last minute plans to go away for the weekend.

4.      Leave the laptop open without finding cat vomit on the keyboard.

5.      Read a book without a cat sitting on it.

6.      Eat a meal without having to offer a bite of something you know she will disdain anyway.

7.      Stop worrying about stepping on the cat’s tail or paw, then feeling like a horrible person.

8.      Cease waking at night to the sound of chucking up hair balls.

9.      Wear black slacks.

10.   Feel a bit lost walking down the pet food isle in the grocery store.

Very sweet. Have you recently lost your cat?
Great list! And what about them BISCUITS!!!! You know, where they knead you half to death - I can't take a nap on my couch anymore with my biggest feller pawing the hound out of my chest.

I'm talking about my biggest cat!
I hope nothing sad happened to the cat. Meanwhile, there are many things one cannot do with two dogs in the house, one of them geriatric. But I would miss them.
Yes, Jezzie, my companion for 18 years, is gone ...
11. Stop investing in 3M lint remover rollers.
I am a big fan of gray cats (check out my avatar.) I loved this list, I hope this doesn't mean you've had a loss. It kind of made me cry. We lost our black and white in January and I sure miss her.
I just read all the comments after I posted and I'm so sorry for the loss of your dear Jessie. As I said, losing a feline companion is so difficult because we are so close to them. Peace and blessings to you.
I love the picture. Your post makes me feel better in a way; we lost our dog two weeks ago and I am devasted. At the same time, I am happy to not be sitting in the bathroom with him with the fan on at 2 o'clock in the morning trying to keep him calm when it is thundering outside.
So sorry for your loss. She was beautiful.
I am so sorry. It's the little things... the abandoned toys, the dish I couldn't part with. I'm still finding golden retriever hair in corners in my house, a year after we lost our dog. Hugs.
I am so sorry, I too had a cat love me for 18 years. She was my blessing and I was hers, still miss and love her. Again, I'm so sorry.
I'm very sorry you've lost Jezzie. =o( Been there all too recently, and I understand this kind of loss--it hurts. I still miss Nina, even t hough I don't miss having to give her subcutaneous fluids.

But all the same, your list made me smile. =o)

Oh, I am so sorry for your loss. I have that lost feeling, still, and it's been 5 years since I lost my little guy
I, Blittie, would never ruin black slacks (blue-gray fur, duh!). That job belongs to my housemate, Lily who is a Siamese. I would also never sit on a book, instead I sit on the arm of the couch above Cait when she is reading like the superior creature that I am. Best Wishes, Blittie
Mine are my life, they are my love.

Bad Betty, who is full of hiss. A complete asshole, and who all the other animals hate (for very good reason) but who loves me. Sleeps with me. Pretend bites me.

Ernie, a girl, named for a good friend that we hoped would take her the summer that folks were throwing kittens over our fence in San Blas, and who didn't, who is the world's dumbest cat.

Ernie: "Meow meow meow." (Translate: "I am fucking starving!")

Me: "Here is some special wet food that the others don't get. It's just for you on this little plate." (Pushing her little head into the smelly wetness of the expensive shit.)

Ernie: (Looking up, stupidly) "Meow MEOW!" (Read: She is really really hungry now........I mean, REALLY hungry!)

Me: "It's right in front of you, sweetheart. Right in front of you. Tuck in baby."

Ernie: "MEOW!!!!!" (Looking up at me sadly, hoping that I will cry at her suffering.) "Meow! I am so weak from hunger........I may cease to exist..........meow......"

Me: (Shoving her stupid face onto the special plate of special food.)
"Eat THIS dumbshit, it's right in front of you."

Ernie: "Oh....yummy......" (Sounds of wet chewing and gulping.....and yeah, finally, a glance up at me.....smacking and slurping........and of course, my heart melts.)

Cats.

We do love them, don't we. And we do surely cry our eyes out when they leave us.

So much love to you. So much sorrow for your loss, sweetheart.
ah, what a beautiful companion you had.

to this day i still save the last bite of my toast for a pet i haven't had for quite some years and i still have his collar. the other day i found the tags from the first pet in my life, some decades ago. i feel for your loss but also admire the way in which you've determined to move through this.
