Miles and I, we slake the night
full on shift to manual
slip to 80
Miles leans back and smiles
Miles is the tilt in my hips
Miles is agave , as it hits my feet
comes back up hot
Miles is the cold breaking wave on my head
hair dripping
the last vestiges of clothes on sand
as I hit the night surf
Miles is the small bead of sweat
under my hair
unshaven chin rough against my neck
dancing late into the night
Miles meets me at midnight
Miles and I
we are friends with the dark
we take comfort in the shadow
Miles leads me to country roads
leans back
gives me the go ahead signal
turbo rising
speed and sex
sweat and trumpet
Miles and I
we slake the night.

Miles is sex, sweat, speed, wind, surf and most of all night. Hope you get that from this. Lean back close your eyes and let it go.

Thank you. Excuse me now while I listen.

I kick myself for not making the time or effort to try to "get" miles and the great jazz artists. But, this slinky and slakey poem will do the trick.
Rated for super super slakiness!

refresh,
combine (lime)
with water...
Never listened to him, alas. Got no concept of slaking,
which may explain me well...hm...
I guess i run frenetically in the Linguistic Night
seeking intensity and chance...
Listening now to
Dylan's "street legal" from 78...
a mad prophetic screech for salvation...
eg
"is yr love in vain"
"do you love me
or are you just extending good will..
do you need me half as much
as u say
or are u just feeeliing
illl..."
too much musical intensity over here, i guess,
i wish i could settle into
the cool fluid dark
you so
well
describe....
\
pantheistic polititicized ponderings
from a man who shouldnt lissen to too much
dylan..
many gifts.

And CONGRATULATIONS on the this being selected one of OS's finest for 2010! So very well deserved, my friend ... ABSOLUTELY!
RomanticPoet: thank you love your new avatar..
Rita thank you for taking the time to come by and read... you also.
Miles gives you mileage.
Sex energy and music
The mechanical revving of notes.
That horn transporting the body
into the sweat of ecstasy.
Very cool poem with a good
engine that drives it along.

Cleverly, I accept your compliment but I think we have to admit, no one does anything quite like Miles.. thank you and welcome here. Enjoyed your work yesterday.
Lezlie
Thank you so much for sharing.
Hi Lez, that was kind to come back and happy to see this poem commented on still.
Roberto, as I wrote on another poem, knowing you are reading my poems in your lovely place in Italy is a real kick! TY
I'm so glad you kept it up. Just what I needed.
The music and words are the perfect sensual combination. One of my favourite poems you have written.
Miss 'seeing' ya, Rita. xo
