Instead of vowing to honor and obey, maybe we should swear to aid and abet. That would mean that security is out of the question. The words "make" and "stay" become inappropriate. My love for you has no strings attached. I love you for free.”-Tom Robbins +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ My first book, Flowergirls, a Mirroir, has been published and is available by clicking the title below. Mustang: The Meticulous Restoration Of Tibet's Ancient Art

Rate: 9 Flag

Many of the 15th century monasteries of Mustang (pronounced moo-tahng) are crumbling due to weather, water damage, age, and dirt. The above NOVA special chronicles the struggle, joy, and enlightenment, when Western art and architectural specialists collaborate with a Tibetan culture that has been untouched for thousands of years.

One of the fascinating things I learned from this program is that to Tibetan culture, there is no such concept as art for art's sake. In the 15th century, artists did not sign their work. Nor do they today. This is not due to a selflessness or lack of regard for recognition; it is simply considered to be unnecessary. Art is a part of daily life in Tibet, to be lived with, and embraced.

The most profound of Buddhist teachings-that of impermanence, becomes a living idea in this documentary, as Tibet meets West in the world of art and culture.

The more we insulate ourselves here in the US; sealed in by fear and arrogance, the less we know about life in the rest of the world. Art is an expression of the people that is valuless to US.
I just love this kind of stuff, Dave...xox
Thank you for coming by, RW! xox

I think you would really like it, Romantic! xox
Thank you Robin. This was truly inspiring. This universe of relative truth is impermanent but it is also in constant renewal. The show reaffirms this principle.
Thank you, Suresh, I'm so glad you enjoyed it...xox
There is much to be learned from Tibet.
Indeed, Snowden...it's good to see you...xox
