+++++++++++++++++++++++++++ “Love is the ultimate outlaw. It just won't adhere to any rules. The most any of us can do is to sign on as its accomplice. Instead of vowing to honor and obey, maybe we should swear to aid and abet. That would mean that security is out of the question. The words "make" and "stay" become inappropriate. My love for you has no strings attached. Video: Me Reading Fly Fishing Big Sky Country By Rita Shibr

Rate: 33 Flag

The second in my poetry series...from our own Rita Shibr...beautiful verses about fly fishing.

And a shout out to my friends at Chictopia! What I'm wearing: Black wool flat front trousers from Eddie Bauer, vintage black chiffon blouse, vintage tie...xox

Fly Fishing Big Sky Country

I first saw you,

lightly adjusting your line

in the evening

over the cool green grass

Your wrist, fluid

lightening in slow motion

line unfurling, a long flag

a frog's tongue

and then snap

Again and over

for hours,  stance

as still as stone

only your graceful

unfurl and snap

Ramshackle car at dawn

rumbling into the canyon

in pungent rubber waders

we traversed

the craggy cliffs

I followed silent your exuberance

your light and steady step,

til standing cold and breathless

 knee high in rushing waters

Jagged stones and slippery moss

eagles sounding sentry

frightened and alive

I cast an unsteady

and wobbling line

Bits of wire and tiny net

shaped by nimble fingers

created a perfect nymphic foil,

weighted for our catch

Late into the evening

legs limp and shaking still

From my distant cabin

I heard your line unfurling

again,  and then over

above the cricket sounds.

-Rita Shibr

This reminded me why poetry ought to be read aloud. Lovely poem and reading!
You looked and sounded great Robin and Rita's poem was wonderful!!
rated with mega hugs and for the outfit too!!
Lovely articulation!
I've already added this to "opensaloon.org".
A different look - more sophisticated - and I like the sepia and the more casual setting. Can't play the vid yet, as I'm low on bandwidth, but I can hardly wait.

Thank you so much, it's so much more beautiful when you read it, then it's like singing. I can never hear the poetry well, even aloud I have to read it again and again. I hope you let me know when you do another one. I'm saving these in my youtube so I can hear them again.
I'm rating but my computer is having troubles so I will have to come back and listen later. I love these poetry readings though.

OH MY! please excuse my absence, busy day here... I came back to this, I am so thrilled Robin, the elocution and line break pauses where so perfect! I love your outfit also, the tie and chiffon blouse tres chic indeed. So honored that you asked me and hearing someone else read my poem, well you are the first, I just have to say it gave me goosebumps. Thank you again. I am saving this to have my sisters hear it.. xoxo
How lovely, Robin! You AND the poem. I loved the dramatic effect of your clothing and the screen tone.

Excellent selection and excellent reading. Does Mr Keillor know there's another poetry reader in town who, from this source, is easier on the ears sand certainly the eyes? (GK can be heard on 99.5 throughout the day.)
Robin you're rockin' the outfit and this was such a good idea. You look so relaxed, the woods agree with you.

Great job, Robin! And a nice taste of the place and time. I swear my legs feel cold and tired as if I'd just gone wading in a cold mountain stream. =o)

I think Rei Momo is right--hearing a poem read is so much more than reading it silently from the page.

I have always, always said, Robin, that you cannot go wrong with basic black. When in doubt go with basic black. You have proved my point here.
Tay, I feel like...I dunno...someone on a PBS show...hehehe! xox
