The Webby Awards, which honors websites and individuals in categories ranging from "Best News Site" to "Webby Artist of the Year" will be broadcast live this year on Facebook. Actress Lisa Kudrow will host the event on June 13, 2011.
While not as famous as the Oscars or Emmys, a Webby Award is a highly coveted prize that can vault an obscure website to instant prominence.
We can all be proud that Open Salon has been nominated for a Webby Award in the following categories:
"Taking Too Long To Respond"
This award is given to the website that has the highest frequency of "Taking too long too respond" messages when a reader attempts to visit the site. Extra points are given when bloggers lose entire posts due to this malfunction.
"Most Spam Invitations To View Obscure Sporting Events"
This highly coveted award goes to the website that allows its feed to be clogged with the most invitations to view random sporting events such as "Seattle University vs. St. Marys" junior varsity baseball.
Of course we all know what would be better than winning either of these awards: Not being eligible.
Maybe next year.
