iran can cope with anything but massive invasion by the usa. that would be no walk in the park for an army that can't even deal with afghanistan, and would massively disrupt the flow of oil. not gonna happen.

saddam found out the reward of having oil but not wmd, and iran is determined not to be america's punching bag anymore. the young iranians want the good life, their elders remember the shah. the best way to unify these disparate elements is to threaten iran with sanctions. either obama is stupid, or there is something he is not telling america. maybe israel has a hand in his pocket....?

even if obama is smart, i sometimes wonder if he is in charge of policy. hugo chavez may have been right when suggested the pentagon was driving foreign policy. god knows the cia is writing the 'human rights' regulations.

England did one hell of a job hacking up the old Ottoman Empire based on religious belief... Funny they can't get along, and the resources of the whole region hold any consequence to the money boys... Oliver Stones publicist spoke to the UN yesterday too, think they were chatting about Oly's pal Victor Chavez, or missles? Hmmm...

Bon Weekend Mon

I want to but a face on this. I have an e-mail friend, a 20-something drummer - a dumbek player --from a family of distinguished musicians living in Tehran. When Bush was taking about bombing the crap out of Iran, I got several desperate e-mails from my friend. He did not want to be blown up. He did not want his family blown up. Thousands of people with not one harmful bone in their bodies are threatened by the grandiose political stances of leaders who are never in danger of losing anything. Even their dogs and cats are completely safe. Sucks, don't it?
