Might as well say it, I'm addicted to...
It’s time that I face facts…I’m an addict, no question about it. Yes, it’s true…dare I say, I’m addicted to poop.
Oh, I’ve tried to stop, and sometimes successfully for quite a long while. I tell myself that I don’t re/… Read full post »
Ch-ch-ch-changes
One thing I’ve always enjoyed about my house is that it came with indoor grass which comes in handy when experiencing my frequent bouts of irregularity. My favorite patch of indoor grass is in the dining room. It’s a lovely green color and even has flowers that look like roses/… Read full post »
Dear Santa "Big Guy" Claws
So, I just learned about this character named Santa Claws, a big guy with a white beard and red suit. He lives way up north and drops off presents for everyone, including dogs. It's amazing what you can learn from TV. Plus, I heard that you can send him a letter… Read full post »
Dre-e-e-e-eam, dream, dream, dream
I had an amazing dream last night…one like I’ve never had before. I don’t know why this one was so vivid--it may have been the human talking about Cuban cigars being freely available in South America; or maybe the McDonald’s hamburger I had for dinner didn’t agree/… Read full post »
NA vs. SA: may the best dog win...
My human came back from South America last week, and all she wants to talk about are South American dogs, specifically those found in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She says that these dogs live on the streets, are very polite and will only eat meat, Argentine beef, to be exact. At least/… Read full post »
How "Big" Can A Mind Get Anyway?
The human is into “expanding her mind” again. She keeps talking about small-minded humans, compassion, learning to show loving kindness to self and others, and miscellaneous bits of mumbo jumbo that basically make no sense to me.
I get the self love part and I’m already… Read full post »
Doggie Daycare Coup (in the making)
I discovered a new talent the other day. I can wrestle. I can take down a dog twice my size and mat them in no time flat. Take Lucy, for example. Lucy is a basset hound of considerable size and girth who hangs out with me at doggie daycare. Yeah, she/… Read full post »
Thoughts on efficiency and effectiveness
“The Silent One” and I are talking again…we got into a debate about “efficiency” vs. “effectiveness”. For all you illiterates out there, efficiency is “doing things right” and effectiveness is “doing the right things”; or maybe/… Read full post »
Oh, the stories we tell...
I like a good story same as everyone else. But it’s important to know the difference between fiction and facts, right?
The human says that everyone is constantly creating stories in their heads about other humans they meet, their motivations, their agendas, their intentions an… Read full post »
Happy Holloween
My favorite howliday is almost here, and I can’t wait for the bash at doggie day care. I love Howl-o-ween for so many reasons it’s hard to even count them all. But, I’ll try.
Reason number 1: I get lots of treats. Yes, it’s all about the treats,/… Read full post »
Best Friends Forever
Wiggles is my BFF at doggie day care. He’s a big dog with a little dog attitude. And I’m a little dog with a big dog attitude. So, we’re “complementary” (complementary is my word of the day).
I guess Wiggles is my alter ego. He likes to lie around/… Read full post »
Zen, yogurt and energy management
My human is “zenning” a lot lately. It’s a new word that I learned and has something to do with managing energy. I don’t know why anyone needs to manage energy, by the way…mine is just fine, but the human is really into it. And from my perspective, she/… Read full post »
Do you hear what I hear? Thoughts on listening
I had a breakthrough in therapy last week….at least that’s what The Silent One says, or said through her eyes. She doesn’t really talk…just stares at me. But her eyes say a lot. According to her, in all of her feline wisdom, I am finally learning how to listen.
&n/…Hospice, hope and near death experiences
My human is learning how to help dying people through something called “hospice”. She goes to a class where they teach her how to be supportive of these very sick humans who are going to die in six months or less. I know this because I’m reading her class book to/… Read full post »
Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my!
It’s that time of year again when the humans sit around watching the television while other humans dressed in funny clothes throw a ball and hit each other. I have to admit, although it’s a silly game, I like it. For starters, the humans tend to eat crunchy things they call/… Read full post »
Good karma smells like roast pork and apples
I like our human neighbor Eula Mae…She always gives me a pet and has really good stories. She and her people moved here from North Carolina in the 1930s and have been here ever since.
Today she stopped by while I was rolling in the grass and smelling e-mails left… Read full post »
I am "The Minster of Monsterdom"
My personality, like humans, has many facets. As I’ve mentioned in the past, this is something I continue to explore in my therapy sessions, but without going into a great deal of analysis, let’s just say that today I am the Minster of Monsterdom.
As the Minster, I have contro… Read full post »
Let the Games Begin!
If I were to write my epitaph, it would probably read: “The play’s the thing”. I have “playing” down to an art form and can make a game out of almost anything. There are a few games I play on a regular basis: “catch me if you can” wher/… Read full post »
My Addiction
I have an obsession…it’s called a “kong”, and I’m truly “addicted,” according to the human. Not knowing what the word addiction actually means, since I acquire all knowledge on a strictly “need to know” basis, I ask The Silent One to look i/… Read full post »
On Walks and Walls...
I love going for walks. It’s probably my absolute favorite thing to do (after eating and hunting). My human and I have a ritual: she looks at me and says, “wanna go…”, and I start barking immediately. Then I run over to the drawer where my leash lives… Read full post »
Mini's Search for Her "Inner Music"
The Silent One keeps telling me that I need to find my “music within”, that we all have genius hidden inside ourselves, and our purpose in this life is to keep hunting for it until we find it. My response is, “huh?” I mean I get “hunting,” but I have no/… Read full post »
Mini's Dog Day Revelation
My human and I have something (although not much) in common—we both love to sing. That’s why my favorite show is American Idol. Although I still think that Adam was robbed last season. He was clearly better than the whiny guy that won. But back to us. We love/… Read full post »
When Enemies Become Friends
I don’t know how it happened. It seemed like an unlikely alliance right from the start: a canine girl who just wants to have fun, and an erudite feline lost in her world of books. But there it is. Somehow, the cat and I have become friends.
It may have started… Read full post »
Mini's Irregular Bird Story
I admit to an occasional bout of irregularity...it's true, my stomach is sensitive and sometimes I just have to relieve myself in the most unlikely places. It's a problem with terriers, and although we're a tough breed overall, we sometimes get, dare I say it, diarrhea.
Now thi… Read full post »
Mini Says: "Keep Your Enemies Close"
As it turns out, I lived through the big pillow fight. I also learned a couple of things. First, pillows are not the lumpy mass of evil I thought they were. They’re actually fairly innocuous and even comfortable when you want a soft place to lie down. Of course, the huma… Read full post »
