Sercret Service w atching for the President in Florida.

Roy Hobbs attended  The Town Hall Meeting in  Fort Myers yesterday.  For 90 minutes I squatted alone my camera, at times  almost  with-in arms reach of the President,  as he spoke.

How does one walk in off the street, get the rarest of ticket in the country and then find himself eye to eye with the President of the United States?.  I'll be posting  the story soon.

But I wanted to share a couple of pictures that you might not see on the news today.

obama485 Listening to the first question of the day from a lady a few rows back.  I'll skip the commentary and let you, and this picture,  add the words.

littlegirl485 Little girl near the front row looks into the stare of a U.S. President.

I'll be posting with the story and more pictures soon.

Great pics! Thanks for sharing.
Wonderful pictures Roy. That meeting looked fantastic. Really looking forward to your story.
Wonderful photos; looking forward to the story. Love your minimalist captions.
Fantastic shots.

So much hope and fear out there - can one man (backed by many staff and govt types) really do what's needed? Will fear overtake and drown hope? Okay, enough - the pictures are inspiring.
Beautiful pictures.
It's always great to get a first person POV. Can't wait for the story!
Roy, what a memorable experience and thanks for posting a selection of your photos for us here!
Wonderful pictures and looking forward to the story!
Great pix! Can't wait to hear the story.
Totally cool! I can't wait to hear your story. What an opportunity!
Thanks, Roy! It's amazing and wonderful how photographs, pieces of time, can be so moving. Thank you again. Looking forward to the story.
Dang, I love our President!!!!

thanks for the pic and I love it on the cover!
Obama's facial expression in this picture reminds me of all those somber Lincoln images we have re-seen this week. You've captured something historic here.
He looks stern. Almost scary!
Man that Photo of Obama belongs in the Smithsonian! I can feel the weight of the daunting task of trying to right a sinking ship on his face. Pure focus and determination. I haven't seen a look like that in over eight years.
How lucky we are to have you sharing these with us. I look forward to hearing the stories......
Looking forward to the stories too. And the pics are outstanding.
Wonderful pics. "Little girl" has stunning eyes. She should be in LIFE magazine.
great post! fantastic pictures - can't wait to hear and see more!
I have not checked but this is going to be front page Salon for sure. And it will be well deserved. Rated and appreciated.
That last photo brought tears to my eyes. I'm so glad you posted this.
That first picture needs to be posterized and with a caption reading, "We Mean Business!"

I love that side of him. He's not going to be a pushover for all you Republican'ts on here who think he will be.

Wow. How did you score that opportunity? Great shots; can't wait to see and hear more.

Wow. There is an interesting article by Tony Dokoupil on Newsweek about America's chemical dependency on anti-anxiety drugs. The researcher he interviews had no real solution, but concluded that Barack Obama might be an effective treatment for anxiety. I set your first photo, unstretched, as my background, and turned the background color black. It is an amazing image. While the iconic photo of Obama that is causing such controversy reflected the national mood during the campaign, I feel that this picture captures where we're at right now. If anyone's down to start a campaign to make this famous, I say let's post it everywhere. (Remember, Chris Dodd's FISA war started with a comment on a Glenn Greenwald article. Just saying.)

Thanks for posting this.
BTW....

Any and all are welcome to use this picture. Full permission granted. As are all my photos free for OSer's.

Extraordinary!
Good Job Mr Hobbs! the portrait is first-rate........
AWESOME! I can't wait to hear how you got in!
Great photos. Don't make us wait too long for the story, OK?
Hah! I got so excited I didn't even think to ask permission. Thanks!
Not mentioned in your profile, but your avatar suggests a Florida sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. Are you from Ft. Myers? If so I'm about an hour north of you.
Gorgeous photos. Eager to read your post.

Paws up.
Wonderful photos, Roy. You are the man on the scene, for sure. Where next?
I liked your juxtaposition of a stern-and-forward-looking, no nonesense President Obama; and just below, the little girl's open-faced gaze, as she no doubt tries to understand what he's saying about the economy.
This is gorgeous. Puts up right there. You should be selling these to the AP.
Doesn't he look serious though? Carter said in an interview that we could not have picked a better man.
YOU are a great photographer! I love these photos juxtaposed with the obese people at Denny's.
