Lying Down with Dogs

I noticed , tonight,

that after the scraps of Christmas paper

and  the last crunchy, artificial Frankincense

that  had fallen from the tree

was  cleaned  up from  the rug;

my Golden Retriever came near me … Read full post »

Dropping the Hammer on Tony Snow

As I was scrolling through the 2008 Obituaries (of the famous and near famous),  I was reminded again that Fox News Reporter turned White House spokesman Tony Snow had died earlier this year from brain cancer. And, again, I was reminded how I’d felt when Mr. Snow died.

Dec 19. UPDATE

Who didn't see this coming.

CAYLEE ANTHONY'S REMAINS OFFER FEW CLUES

Maybe if they would have spent more money?

Whoa, stand back.  It's going to get rough,  the squeamish might want to avert their eye's.

But even though it's a question… Read full post »

A Question for Hunter S. Thompson

ag20

For the past couple of days,  a heavy, scented Caribbean mass of air has been climbing north and raking itself over Cuba;  bringing with it the earthy, soft scents that - you'd recognize if you've been to that place - wreak of sadness.

I not going into a whole big thing here,  I just can't.

First of all,  because after only a few minutes into researching the subject,  I spotaneously grabbed a salad fork and plunged it into the meat of my thigh.  … Read full post »

What I like to blog about is the madcap hilarity of watching “the smartest men in the room” getting jack knifed for billions by Barnard Madoff.

Can’t you just see them wandering dazed through the deserted halls of their Palm Beach or Long Island mansions in soiled

The Day the Aliens Come

The Day the Aliens Come

With two seemingly unrelated events so perfectly aligning,  I am no longer embarrassed to admit a Fear has bored slowly within my ear like a weevil, finally punching through - piercing the dark meat of my brain:

It is  - The… Read full post »

The Wonderful (and easy) World of HDR Pictures.

There was time, when "getting into photography" meant hundreds of dollars in investment in equipment;  and many additional hundreds of dollars buying and developing film.  Not to mention..... you actually had to study and l… Read full post »

My friend Dickie Thorn and I  don't meet for coffee at Starbucks anymore.  We carry our new "Big Cups" across the street to the corner Stop-n-Rob and self-service oursleves;  now for 79 cents.  We are doing more of that lately -  self-servicing ours… Read full post »

Who Listens to Drunk?

After dinner, I stepped out to the patio with my wine glass and settled into an Adirondack chair.  Annie had painted it with blotches orange and red hibiscus and creeping honey vine. A few streets over out in the darkness, two of Hemmingway’s cats were yowling and

Tattoo You

To the most viciously  tattooed,  all I have is a sort of  ambiguous pity.  Like I reserve for  mangled survivors of “freak” accidents.  Those odd, self-inflicted injuries they describe as “freak”,  but  whose result was never in hones

The Girl with the Mona Lisa Smile

Yeah,  I'm that guy always with the camera.  Often found contorted around a tree branch angling for perfect lighting on moss. (I have a folder named, "Moss, Fungus, Lichen. No...really)

I found this young girl sitting one some steps last month. (Yes, I met… Read full post »

Handful of Stones

My friend Davey Arliss pitched for his baseball team,  so the bare fact he couldn’t  link more than a few lusterless hops across the water - even with a proper skipping rock - was a mystery.

I can still see him at the water’s edge in muddy high-tops.… Read full post »

Army-Gateway to the Wold

Maybe I wasn’t thinking straight, too much liqueur and foul madness last night, but the driver had me spooked. I was thinking twice about lighting up in his cab.  Something’s not right.

Finding Goshen

goshen On a map of northern Florida, Goshen is just a tiny scratch inked in along the banks of the St. Johns River. And,  I was about to say I moved here almost two weeks ago Friday.

But  “moved”  begs the notion that being in Goshen is something… Read full post »
