Washington DC, June 2, 2014 -- World capitals erupted today in outrage after Israel's Likud government admitted responsibility for yesterday's nuclear blast that wiped out an alleged terrorist-sympathizer event in Berkeley, California.
White House Press Secretary Greta Van Susteren conveyed President Palin's regret over the loss of life, but cautioned against "over-reaction by the Berkeley City Council and others who would deny Israel its legitimate right to self-defense."
The Berkeley City Council, meeting in emergency session, has called for a United Nations Security Council investigation into the attack on what it termed "a peaceful gathering", but that the Israeli government has characterized as a fund-raising event in support of Palestinian terrorists.
The event, an outdoor concert sponsored by the Committee for Food and Medicine for the Children of Nablus (CFMCN), a radical pro-Palestinian fringe organization with alleged ties to the Islamic Studies Department at the University of California, was disrupted by a low-yield nuclear device, resulting in an estimated 10,000 - 25,000 dead and wounded militants.
It is believed to be the first time Israel has used nuclear weapons against the territory of a military ally, though Israel's previous use of nuclear missiles proved to be the decisive factor in the 2010 war with Turkey.
Wilma Earthsdottir, a spokesperson for CFMCN who survived the blast when she was delayed in traffic on the San Francisco Bay Bridge, said in an interview with SalonTV.com, "What more do they want? Nablus is the last 40 square miles of territory where Palestinians are still allowed to live, and the only foods and medicine allowed past the Zionist blockade are Pan Bimbo and Nyquil."
In the U.S. Congress, there was bipartisan consensus in support of the Israeli action. House Speaker Eric Cantor, appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe", said President Palin and her administration should "continue to gather all the facts, and if necessary, to veto any biased U.N. resolutions reining in Israel's right to defend itself", while in a statement released this afternoon, House Minority Leader Anthony Weiner stated, "While the demand for answers seems to echo in capitals around the world, the facts here are largely known. Any loss of life is tragic. This loss was the result of CFMCN instigation and Nablus terror policies. Even if we are the only country on earth that sees the facts here, the United States should stand up for Israel."
Defense Secretary Robert Gates, defending the U.S. decision to go ahead with joint U.S./Israel military exercises in the Persian Gulf, said in a hastily arranged press conference at the Pentagon, "The United States' commitment to Israel's security is unshakable, and our defense relationship is stronger than ever, to the mutual benefit of both nations. The United States and our ally Israel share many of the same security challenges, from combating terrorism to confronting the threat posed by Iran's nuclear-weapons program.”
Asked whether this time Israel may have finally gone too far to count on continued American support in the face of world-wide condemnation, Prime Minister Avigdor Lieberman offered this analysis, "In 1967 Israeli planes attacked an American ship, the U.S.S. Liberty, in international waters off the coast of Egypt, to prevent it from listening in on our military communications. After numerous passes, strafing and napalming a clearly-marked American boat, there were thirty-four American sailors dead and twice as many wounded. The American government silenced its own military and quashed all serious investigations. That's when we knew for certain that America was our bitch, now and forever."

This is great writing, glad you agree.
Well written, entertaining and frightening as all get out. Good job!
it is too believable
too true.
Well thought through Roy...a biting satire that needs to be packed into artillery and across the world. I do not understand our tolerant attitude towards a country that has spied on us (many do I know) so blatently and with smug reaction when they were taken to acccount.
A lean, biting blast of satire.....thank you.
Seriously you satirical sun of NY, hasn't that been the bleeding rhinoceros head in the corner all along?
Really well done!
Despite being a lover of satire, you misunderstood my comment. As a story, this opus wouldn't get accepted even by Rejected Quarterly.
psychomama, thanks for sharing
T&J, thanks for coming back so often, the "kernel of truth" includes the verbatim statements of Reps Cantor and Weiner in response to the most recent Likud assault on international law (substitute "Turkey" for "CFMCN" and "Hamas" for "Nablus" in Weiner's statement) and Gates' own words before the incident in discussing joint US/Israeli miltary exercises, which have in fact not been cancelled, the USS Liberty incident is also historical fact, as to talent and skills, I lay no claim to them, on your advice I'll not submit to Rejected Quarterly, don't have any idea what Lulu is but never expected to make "tons of money", as you put it, just hoping to make a few friends laugh and cry, thanks for keeping it civil
Anthony D, I appreciate the support
stellaa, thanks for dropping in, keep up the good work
Kenny1948, Mr F, 1661, glad you all found something here to like, feel free to look around
dianaani, just don't barf on my blue suede shoes
it ain't so, Gary, there, I said it
Token, it did sort of write itself
al l, I think some of it's improbable, for example, I don't really think Gates would stick around for a third administration
Dr Sue, so that's where the mess in the corner came from!
Coyote, you're a pal
R
Dr Spud, you're making me blush
Buffy, let me see if I can be clear -- since the first invasion of Lebanon and the massacres at Sabra and Shatila, I've been waiting for an American administration to actually articulate a foreign policy position that doesn't indulge the worst and most criminal offenses of our client state in the Middle East, and have come to the inescapable conclusion that the American State Department and the Congress are effectively wholly-owned subsidiaries of Likud
sandra, a high compliment from one who knows her horror
did I take it too far, Nikki?

Oh, and uh ..., it IS kinda funny ...
RATED
But please tell us Roy, we already know what you are obviously without, but is the 'tooth' missing too, just like Alfred E. Newmans?
:)
j-mike, you confuse me, what am I obviously without? oh, and I do have all my teeth, even my wisdom teeth, thanks for asking
"The USS Liberty incident was an attack on a United States Navy technical research ship, USS Liberty, by Israeli Air Force jet fighter aircraft and motor torpedo boats, on June 8, 1967, during the Six-Day War.[1] The combined air and sea attack killed 34 crew members (naval officers, seamen, two Marines, and one civilian), wounded 170 crew members, and severely damaged the ship.[2] At the time, the ship was in international waters north of the Sinai Peninsula, about 25.5 nmi (29.3 mi; 47.2 km) northwest from the Egyptian city of Arish.[3]
Both the Israeli and U.S. governments conducted inquiries and issued reports that concluded the attack was a mistake due to Israeli confusion about the identity of the USS Liberty.[4] Some survivors, in addition to some U.S. diplomats and intelligence officials involved in the incident continue to dispute these official findings, saying the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty was not a mistake,[5] and it remains the only major maritime incident in U.S. history not to be investigated by the U.S. Congress.[6]
In May 1968, the Israeli government paid US$3,323,500 as full payment to the families of the 34 men killed in the attack. In March 1969, Israel paid a further $3,566,457 in compensation to the men who had been wounded. On 18 December 1980, it agreed to pay $6 million as settlement for the U.S. claim of $7,644,146 for material damage to the Liberty itself.[7]
On December 17, 1987, the issue was officially closed by the two governments through an exchange of diplomatic notes.[8]"
shocking. sigh. a side-effect of my ignorance. thank you roy.
