Maybe it's time to join the Amish.

Shown above is the latest ad from Burger King. The ad is currently only running in Singapore, but how long before ads such as this start appearing in BK joints in America.
Vulgar ads are nothing new, but fast food restaurants such as McDonald's and Burger King have built a reputation on kid friendly/family friendly establishments. Though this is a Burger King ad, it sullies the reputation of all such restaurants in my opinion.
Christian parents can limit their children's exposure to such trash by limiting their kid's computer access, doing without television etc., but it's getting to the point that you cannot leave the house and go anywhere to get a reprieve from trash like this. While this ad may be suitable for placement in Hustler magazine, it has no place in kid-friendly restaurants.
Evangelicals who are so inclined may contact:

(If you try the consumer relations number, you may have to wait a while to talk to someone)
Mainly intended for my other blog, since OS is more liberal, but as this is an extremely sexist and degrading ad, I felt it worth sharing on OS too.

Mustard, always good to get your input. Thanks.
Ok, I'm grossed out now.
The ad is aimed at men, of course, at the expense of women who generally wouldn't buy it anyway, and N.O.W. have reason to be upset.
BUT...men who ordered this 7 incher could be accused of being like the woman in the ad. I can think of several great cutting jokes to hurl at the guy who orders this phallus burger while I drove down the street to kick his ass out at the Dairy Queen.
My prediction for the next Burger King "edgy" ad - the tartar sauce "wet shot." That is a joke, sort of, but......
That is a joke, sort of, but......considering BK's track record, highly likely.
I saw nothing except a burger add, thats 'till I was
alerted to the so called degredation.
For example, compare some of the profanity used on OS with the language you might find on a Christian website. (I'm not passing judgement because I've cussed most of my adult life, but I'm trying to control it) My point is that a liberal would generally have more exposure to things such as the BK ad and would probably not be as offended. I am very pleased to see that even the left has a line in the sand............and that ad dang sure crossed it.
In fact, name one famous liberal who is well known for both a) being a liberal and b) advocating and taking a public stance supporting immoral behaviour.
I'm not talking about people that have personal failings (Bill Clinton, John Edwards, Ted Kennedy, Newt Gingrich, Larry Craig, David Vitter) but people who encourage this kind of behavior.
Lots of Christians are offended by this ad. Lots of Christians also will print it and hide it under their mattresses. Same with athiests.
I guess my point is, especially given the language that you use in comments, is that if you want to be taken seriously, and not just be seen as preaching to the rwnutjob choir, you ought to consider the idea that Christian evangelicals have no lock on moral behavior.
via... what do the amish use for long distance communication?
at any rate, if this ad only appears in singapore, that means that bk was deferring to our sensibilities by not airing it here. why did you import something you found so offensive?
i'm really asking. i do think it is offensive too, but i generally try not to associate myself with things i don't like.
and i wonder, if we make it our business to import ads like this before companies actually spring them on us, do we function like shock troops? reducing the revulsion that we feel for these images through a series of small exposures, like a vaccine?
what role do we bloggers play in this conversation? i'm not trying to say you're doing anything wrong... i am glad you shared the image here, because this is a topic i like to think about.
bStrangely, BK has done some "iffy" commercials here in the U.S. and the fact that they would sanction this ad anywhere they operate tells me everything I need to know about them. Their entire marketing group should be sacked. They need to redirect their energy into producing fast food, which is actually edible and reasonably priced, and serving it in family friendly restaurants.
bstrangely quote: "and I wonder, if we make it our business to import ads like this before companies actually spring them on us, do we function like shock troops? reducing the revulsion that we feel for these images through a series of small exposures, like a vaccine?" An excellent point. We should limit the display of ads like this to only the most egregious.
Thanks for your comments.
An interesting thing happened a few months ago. Bill O'Reilly did a piece on a 100% free porn site where "amateurs" post their homemade videos. I had never heard of the site. Neither had millions of others, I presume, until O'Reilly told everyone about it. He gave the name, showed the link on his screen, etc.
I'm sure that O'Reilly has a justification for this, but to do a free commercial to the #1 porn site in the country, on the #1 CATV News show, seemed a little weird.
