Seasons of my Love

My love’s eyes sparkled like drops of icy water

Tumbling into the clear pool of her love

Like the first buds of spring, my heart responded

My adoration for her grew just as quickly

Warmed by the joy of my love’s sunny smile

I sense the heat of her affection

Feeling the flush of a summer like heat

I blush red, as if burnt by an August sun

Much like leaves stacked beneath the forest oaks

We shelter each other from frosty realities

As we provide each other a reprieve from fear

Like a day of Indian summer, after a cool autumn night

We will always be blanketed by love’s awesome beauty

like the first view of the woods after a heavy snow

As we snuggle together beneath the mantle of our love

We shall hold no dread of the winter of our years.

Dedicated to my Amy.  I love you, chickie.

Lovely! How lucky you are-how lucky she is.
awww...I love a love story. I especially like "Much like leaves stacked beneath the forest oaks We shelter each other from frosty realities as we provide each other a reprieve from fear" because that is so much of the cool part of loving someone, always having a safe place, someone who GETS you. Lovely poem!
I love the happiness that courses thru this.
You talk perty when you ain't talkin' trashy ;)
Exquisite - as always.
Well expressed. I love the last two lines:"As we snuggle together beneath the mantle of our love
We shall hold no dread of the winter of our years."
You make me feel warm on this Autumn like day here in Iowa City.
