Here you will find solidarity; here you will find camaraderie and here you will find some of the best writing about LGBTQIA equality every assembled in one location.
What makes this group of posts supportive of LGBTQIA equality different from the norm is that they have all been written by some of the best heterosexual writers in OS.
The Safe_Bet Project is named after my late wife Suzy / Safe_Bet who passed away this last January. She was always a huge advocate of equality, but at the same time she had so many straight friends that she dearly loved. Many of them will be represented by their posts here.
Seriously, The Safe_Bet Project is a forum for our straight, hetero “Allies and Friends” to express their different takes on equality. Therefore, the goal of The Safe_Bet Project is to provide a comprehensive group of posts, in support of LGBTQIA equality, written by straight, heterosexual writers.
There are a multitude of posts, blogs, etc. where queer folk tell each other about equality, but there are damn few where straight people voice their support. This one will be all about how equality is perceived through "straight eyes" as opposed to "queer eyes". I think that the whole will be greater than the sum of its parts (posts), especially when great writers are creating them.
If you'd like to participate the guidelines are simple. You can write about anything you’d like, as long as it supports LGBTQIA equality. If you want to use a post that you’ve written in the past that is fine, as well. The only real criteria are that they be well written and edited, are 400 – 800 words in length (we could go to 1,000 if it is a FANTASTIC post) and that, as a favor to me because I have a VERY warped sense of humor, no matter how weighty or sober your post might be, I’d like to get to chuckle at least once while reading it.
Here is a REALLY cool part! The good folks at Our Big Gayborhood are going to let me select a post every month or so to be included on their blog here on OS and on their site, http://www.ourbiggayborhood.com/. (Of course, you will get full credit and all of the corresponding fame and accolades.)

You are IT.
Suzy was a incredible person, and a great friend to have here on OS.
Does my "Bitch Boots, Louisville Slugger, and Chain Saw" story count for equality? I am just joking.

My contribution is in my blog.
Safe_bet was a great, caring and loving friend to me, and she was always by my side no matter what I could count you her, and I am feeling the same about you also.. Both of you are great and wonder people.. Love and hugs.
Does it make it better knowing I'm a conservative?
Thanks for doing this. You're amazing.
Oh, and I promise to write something very soon.
You rock!
