I'm sure that the Knight's of Columbus, the Mormons, the Fundie Fascists and the people that believe that queers will infect their adopted children with "gayness" and/or will molest them are upset by this, but for the rest of us:
YAY!!! Florida Appeals Court for declaring the state's 33-year-old gay adoption law unconstitutional!
BTW, not that I'M biased in any way, but...
A study released by the medical journal Pediatrics finds that lesbians make BETTER parents.
The study states that children of lesbian parents are better adjusted, have higher grades, and have less behavior problems than children of hetero parents.

So all you homophobic fundie church ladies, stop screwing up your kids and find yourself a girl friend!

I am convinced, if this goes to the Supreme Court, that Scalia will hold that it only applies to Gay Men.
rated with love.
What was this about?
Oh yeah, this is a very good thing. Charlie Crist is as well tanned as Boehner but with apparently some sense and compassion.
A good day indeed.
Pitty Im not married ----- I want kids some day... some day

Great news thanks

I do remember that study.
Makes you wonder if a culture doesn't reach a tipping point where the truth is self-evident.
(Those TPes are sure having trouble with that pesky Constitution.)
Oh, BTW, anybody who maliciously calls people lesbo, dyke and tells a woman who's wife passed away slightly more than 6 months prior that she "needs to get a new girl friend because she needs to get laid" is definitely scum.
So are you a homophobe (inspite of your single line of rebuttal)? Lets check the definition.
Homophobia: A a range of negative attitudes and feelings towards lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, and in some cases transgender and intersex people. Definitions refer variably to antipathy, contempt, prejudice, aversion, and irrational fear. Homophobia is observable in critical and hostile behavior such as discrimination and violence on the basis of a perceived non-heterosexual orientation. In a 1998 address, author, activist, and civil rights leader Coretta Scott King stated that "Homophobia is like racism and anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry in that it seeks to dehumanize a large group of people, to deny their humanity, their dignity and personhood."

So yes, you ARE a homophobe.
Now stop fucking harassing me.
That study was a waste of money, women are always better parents. They're better listeners and aware of every little detail. I prefer to date men who had no male role model for that reason. My friends who've married them say they're often better husbands, I wouldn't know. They should have called me, for ten bucks I would have told them.
I often say things the wrong way because I'm too blunt, please don't be offended but I truly want to know this. Are there any crazy gay people who are freaked out at the thought of their kids growing up straight? I'm asking because it seems like there are so many people who are completely irrational, especially in my area, not only over this.
Oh, and I don't think the people I know are all that homophobic, I think they just like being better than everyone who isn't exactly like them. If only I would try their church instead of mine...
Keep talking, I'm worn out. Thank you.
seriously, multiple parents and big families are good for kids and oldies.
So, either cite the studies that back up your slanders or STFU. Thank you.
BTW, here are mine that show what you've said is pure bullshit.
* from the scientific peer-reviewed journal, "Pediatrics" published in July of 1994. The study was done by Dr. Carole Jenny of the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. The subjects were 269 sexually abused children seen at Denver Children's Hospital over the course of one year.
* 2% of the boys in the study were molested by gay males.
* 98% of the boys in the study were molested by heterosexuals.
* 0.05% of the girls in the study were molested by a lesbian.
* 99.5% of the girls in the study were molested by heterosexuals. Of that number, 80% were molested by heterosexual males KNOWN TO THE VICTIMS in an incestuous scenario.

Herek says: "Since 1978, no credible new data have been published that contradict the conclusions" [that pedophilia is a crime committed almost exclusively by heterosexuals].
Studies such as this are good for generating headlines but not for much else. Note this passage from the article you referenced:
"The study was limited in that it was not a random sample, and was not controlled for race, ethnicity, or other demographic factors."
The article notes that " . . .the researchers enrolled 154 lesbian mothers who conceived through donor insemination . . . "
Health insurance rarely pays for most infertility services, and couples who can afford these services typically have incomes far above the average household. In addition, these pregnancies are obviously planned. In other words, the couples in this study are likely to be quite different from most heterosexual couples who have children the "old fashioned" way. The children of these atypical households are then compared with what the article calls "typical American children."
The funding of the study is also interesting:
"The study was supported by grants from the Gill Foundation, the Lesbian Health Fund of the Gay Lesbian Medical Association, and the Roy Scrivner Fund of the American Psychological Foundation."
The Gill Foundation describes itself this day: "Today, the Gill Foundation is one of the nation’s largest funders of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender equal rights work."
The Roy Scrivner Fund supports "empirical and applied research focused on lesbian, gay, and bisexual family psychology and lesbian, gay, and bisexual family therapy."
One of the eligibility requirements for receiving a grant from the Roy Scrivner Fund is "demonstrated commitment to LGBT family issues."
So what you have is a study paid for by gay and lesbian activist groups -- a study in which the participants are not randomly selected, and whose incomes and lives are quite different from most heterosexual couples. I suppose it is a very inspiring study -- as long as people only look at the headlines and not at the details of the study.

I don't think all gay people should adopt but that's based on each person, I don't think all hetero people should adopt. For that matter not all of them make wonderful parents. I haven't met any perfect parents yet. It's also unfair to children also because they look for people who fit the child. What if the kids are missing out on the best parent for them. Children are not property, any law that discriminates against one also discriminates against the other. The kids get hurt in this too.
There is an abundance of anger and hate and that's doing more to destroy families than any other thing we see! It's simply wrong and immoral to deny people the chance to give or receive love. It's the one thing that's sorely lacking, I wish being loving would be more predominant everywhere. Getting rid of hateful laws would be a good start.
I also heard that the governor said he would immediately stop enforcing the ban, thus declaring that he thought the court had made the right decision.
Yeah for common sense.
Love is love, people? What's so hard to understand about that?
Amy--I bet Safe Bet is smiling, too.
It's strange that good people have to fight religious Christian people in order to make things better for everyone. We used to think that religion made people good but it seems to make them LESS tolerant, caring and human.
As for Crist, knowing him well. He just did this to try and garner the gay vote. He's running for senator against both a Democrat and a few conservative republicans.
