Bio
S W M B C (She Who Must Be Consulted) is of the opinion that my second attempt at writing a profile was as lame as the first one, so if you want to find out anything about me, you'll have to ask someone who read the old profile. I joined OS in October of 09 to write poetry, but I've since become distracted by all the politics, psychology, and occasional philosophy that goes on around here, which has distracted me from the business of writing poetry, as well as other real-life chores such as making money, taking out the garbage and so on and so forth. I'm making a good faith effort to cut back on my non-poetic writings, such as they are, in order to focus on the poetry thing. I expect to fail at this enterprise but, in the meantime, I have updated my poetry index. OS lists everything most recent first, which means that new readers have no idea how much stuff is back there in the archive. Use the link to the index below to check out the index and maybe read some poems that you may have missed.

On The Androgyny of These Voices

Rate: 2 Flag

At the poetry reading,
The poets stand before you,
Male and Female,
Young and old,
Handsome and ugly,
Plain and beautiful,
Short, tall, fat, thin,
Long-haired, short-haired,
Hairless;
The stutter and stammer
Competing with the buff
And the strutting,
All decked out
In their poetical regalia:

Here, we are faceless,
shapeless, sexless,
And therefore perfect
Poets

Here, its the words and the words alone
That get remembered or forgot.

Nice use of opposing couples. Enjoyable.
When they dig up the remains of our culture thousands of years from now, and find this on the hard drives of the ancient servers,
someone's going to say "man, what an awesome find" when they see your blog.
Poetry has taken a different edge on our digital age.
And personally I have never been a big fan of public poetry reading at coffee houses. And I always wonder how far poets will reach with their poetry in this century.

Good read.
