I've decided that profiles are superfluous. Especially when you have rebuild a bathroom wall that just came down.

Chaos

Rate: 9 Flag

If I had bought in before
I would have lost more
I waited for the call to come
That never came at all
The charge laid against us
That we did not manage well
Belies the existential fact
That we do not manage circumstances
Circumstances manage us.

In the chutzpah of our hubris
We think ourselves players on the stage
When we're merely shadows in the audience
Imagining ourselves in the spotlight
From the comfort of the darkness
Committing vain acts and foolish follies
Trying to negotiate with chaos
Some call it luck, some call it destiny
But we don't choose our fates
Fate chooses our destinies
And, in the end, luck decides everything else.

I first understood chaos with regard to weather and markets. R
"Trying to negotiate with chaos..." That's me alright. Nice.

I like the ending - it's a very unique way of looking at things. Definitely something to thinking about. (: R
So true. There is the saying, man plans, G-d laughs, or something like that. We go by instinct sometimes and then ignore it and fail big time. There is no "planning" there is only change....
I take fate over luck every time. Good Job Sage!
Oh this is home plate material.I think you nailed it my Dear smart SageMerlin. Bravo from your audience!

Always a pleasure to read a poem of yours over and over again. Each time I see more. You are such a good poet. Thank you.
Luck is under-rated--so true. Well done.
I read this to my daughter and my mouth was full of twists and turns. Right on. We both agree. You got it down just right. Thank you.
