Weight Loss Journal - Week 23 - Progress

Rate: 11 Flag

I finally feel as though I'm making good progress. When I weighed myself this morning, I was at 155, down from 170. Fifteen pounds seems like a big deal at this point.

I've done some tinkering. Eating just three times a day five hours apart wasn't working. I was so hungry by mealtime that I consumed too many calories. So I switched to eating three small meals and two or three snacks. I feel much better, not so ravenous, and the weight is coming off.

It finally turned warm here in the north country, so I got out my spring and summer clothes and was pleased to discover that everything I put on felt considerably looser, even in the sleeves.

Yesterday I walked on the beach for an hour and I've been doing the hills in Cedar Grove for a greater calorie burn. I have also been working out with my dumbells and doing the plank, which is really tough. I do like to feel strong, though.

For snacks, I've been eating fruit and nut granola bars, popcorn, and blueberry crunch Greek yogurt. I'm taking in about 1100 calories a day which is low enough to do the trick but not so low as to leave me feeling hungry all the time.

Success has me feeling very motivated. I'm eager to break into the 140 pound range, 140 to 149. That goal is in site. Wish me continued luck and thanks for your support and for sending positive energy my way.

Well done!

Blueberry crunch Greek yogurt sounds lovely!
I ant have all those fibre things because of my celiac disease and it kills me.
Wonderful news!!
HUGGGGGGGGG
Skinny: You have motivated me to start running more consistently. That's easier when it is warm outside.
Good for you, Sarah! This is great news. It's amazing what good weather can do. You can get there!
You are doing very well and eating so healthy. I knew I was going to have to take it to extreme if I was really going to lose, so glad I did. I got a smidge below 150 and I swear I will never hit it again! As a teen I used to cry when I hit 140, silly me. Wanna teeter tween 136 and 140, I think. I alternate tween chick breast and salmon, cooked withslivered carrots and onions. I cook it in olive oil, and just before the chicken is done I sprinkle dry gravy mix(just a tad) and moisten it down. Makes good flavor. The salmon I baste with either just terri sauce, or marmalade/soy blend. Always with a huge salad.Getting spinach, Bibb, Romaine, Mustard green and mixed lettuce from the garden, several plantings. Ihave that meal at 3 pm, and at 10pm I have either 3 hard boiled eggs , or tuna (plain) on rye crsip.(Usually a whole small can, no mayo) I then allow myself yogurt/sugarfree jello/or sugarfree instant pudding. Later snack is always an apple and rye crisp. We buy Jazz apples at Sam's and they are super juicy. Didn't mean to write a book, lol. For both of us the weight is coming off slow and I am convinced that is the only way. I do go to Gold gym 4 to 5 times a week for 20 min treadmill and 20 min weight lifting.
Good for you! We're on the diabetic diet which means we eat six x a day. If we are consistent (which doesn't always happen) we are not hungry. Not being hungry for me is the key to success. When I'm hungry I'll eat about six snickers bars in a row. Ha ha.
V, It tastes really good to someone who is not a big fan of yogurt.
Linda, I don't know how you stand it but for someone as creative as you are, I'm sure you eat really well anyway.
Gary, And don't spend too much time sitting in front of a computer screen.
froggy, As soon as the stormy weather clears, I will be able to do ten mile rides on the bike path. I hope to up it to 20.
Cindy, I find it curious that you eat at three and ten o'clock. How did you develop that habit?
Matt, Success is motivation.
Amy, I hear ya. I keep mini peppermint patties on hand to eat in lieu of dessert. If I'm not extremely watchful, I can tear through the whole bag in one evening.
15 pounds IS a big deal! Kudos to you. I find Greek yogurts high in BF, have to look for low or no fat ones which are hard to find.
Do it for me too!
Just the inspiration I need as I'm in the middle of my first week of serious dieting. I'm nervous of the weigh in on Saturday but feel determined to get back in my summer clothes. If we get a summer that is.

Very well done and good luck for further success. 140 pounds by mid summer would suit me fine. Everything crossed.
Oregami, One a day won't hurt, I figure, and my gut needs all the help it can get.
myriad, Join me.
Linda, Maybe you can be inspired by all those olympic athletes descending on your country. You can do it. I have faith.
I weighed my self today for the first time in months and since January 2011 I've lost over fifty pounds, down under 190 for the first time since 1993. Hang in there you'll meet your goal and if you stick with it you'll keep the weight off.
Good work, Sarah. You are inspiring me. Need to move more, eat better, eat less.
Wow, 15 lbs is a lot. The Greek yogurt sounds really good. Now your success makes me want to get back on the treadmill tomorrow! Congrats!!!!
jmac, Wow! That's the kind of weight loss that can wean you ofrf your meds.
Lea, I really want to feel light and free again like I did when I was a kid. I want to run like the wind and laugh in the face of gravity. In other words, I feel motivated, and success motivates.
cc, Every day gets easier. You just have to gwet over the hump.
Congratulations! You sound like you're in a really good place! Continued luck to you!
