The Naked Truth About Me with *Skin Update*

Rate: 31 Flag

wii me

I've been hesitant to enter this challenge because it isn't a challenge to me. I don't wear makeup. Really. Well, unless you count hair color, which I've changed a lot the past few years. Otherwise I only wear a little makeup on dressy occasions. That's the way I've always been.

So you've already seen many photos of the real me, from then and now, in avatars and post, after post, sans makeup. There's a range of hair style and color. Sue me, I like to play with my look. And sometimes I have no choice.

Here are two pics in which I'm wearing make-up.

My niece's wedding two years ago. (OS Collage avatar, current).

My own wedding 27 years ago. (My real hair color. Rest of pics here).

Yeah, the real me was always a long haired brunette. Until I wasn't.

In Glasgow visiting my niece, 11.06. The only time Prednisone gave me full, red cheeks and my full, curly hair back.

Father's day, 6.07. Oops, I lost it again. I'm the one in the middle. Duh.cousins

Chanukah, 12.07, with Karen's daughter Amy, my sweetie, my pal. See our rosy lips? No lip gloss, natural color runs in the family.

Okay, some skin... after hand surgery 2.08, my sister took the pic to record all my ridiculous drug allergy alert bracelets.sally hand

My hair's a bit darker and shorter now, different (similar) glasses, but basically that's me today, still no makeupAnd really, I've had just about enough of my naked face.

For all I know, you left already.

Oh, and by the way, I think alla y'all look Ab Fab just the way you are!

Late as usual but at least properly undressed.
Godess Sally! You rock, and your sweetie Amie is an angel; congrats.
Me, I am without any makeup in my avatar from the first day...
I wear so little it isn't going to make a difference if I decide to post one. The older I get, the less I wear. You look fabulous!
That is THE CUTEST pic of you!

I think you always look good, and to think it's never with make-up!

d
Stop, stop, you're embarrassing me. heh

Marcela and Buffy, you're both earth beauties, it's so obvious.

denese, you are the cutest and thank you back!

owl, ditto, though wish we could have a peek at you.

JK, I am comfortable and lucky too. Good genes and good jeans. Oh crap, I meant challenge in a nice way, I thought I saw others say they're meeting the challenge, maybe I should change my text? Oy, me and my big mouth.
very pretty, but you look like my mom, so I might be bias
who needs makeup when you've got those great cheekbones and awesome smile?

it's fun seeing all of....youse. heeeee...

Rrrrrrrated!
Daaaaling...you look maaaavelous!
If make up kills your skin, don't use it. If it doesn't, don't use it. I guess I'm being dogmatic again. Sorry.
I think ALL of your pictures are fantastic because your smile radiates.
Rated with and without make up or clothes. :-D
the more i see of these nekkid OSer pics the more i'm liking it. like you said above, you "look Ab Fab just the way you are!"
I love your big ol' cheeser grin. You can really light it up, Sally. That beauty comes through in your writing. It's why you is one of my favs, Baby!
You always be lookin' good Sally!
hy-Julie, you HAD to say it, didn't you? I look like your mom!! Oh maaannnn. Well, wait. I am the mom of a 25-year old so I guess it's okay. Just as long as one of you 40-somethings doesn't say it. ;)

Bees, thank you, cheekbones come with a heart-shaped face which can also look way too skinny if the owner isn't careful. Just sayin..

Denese, c'mon, I count on you as my photo advisor. I need a new one with better lighting, right?

Gracieeeeee, right back at youuuuuu.

Stacey, you got it, that's why I never use it. Make up makes me look worse.

Blue, are you saying you just want to see my naked smile? :0 thank you, dear, really

nan, should I add a shot of my nekkid chest in a wrinkled shirt waking up from my nap?

Michael, you too, just love me for zee mouth.... heh Back atcha, babe.
Love both the blonde and the brunette you! So, so pretty. Can't decide.... though the high-lights are pretty damn sexy. OK, blonde for now. Adorable.
Great photos of another beautiful woman. Must be a Philly thing the no makeup...
The many faces of Sally ... and all pretty damned cool. Makeup be unnecessary.
Wow - I love all your pics!
peece!
dj
I agree with JK - I love how open you are. I'm another person who uses little to no make up (none except when in public "for reals") but does color my hair.
I love them all. Weird the difference prednisone makes in your hair. I also like the long highlighted hair. Your family is beautiful too. There's a big difference between me with or without makeup. I'll be doing this too after work tonight.
Cindy, I would have howled if you'd said, "God you look like crap!!!" Then I'd probably have sat looking at my pics and wondering, just, you know, for a minute or two....

dcv, I go back and forth but am now darker with lots more highlights, it's something called "paneling" meant to look like wood grain or something. All I know is I get lots of compliments (esp from Le Hubby) so I'm stickin with it for now.

Leonde, thank you! It's definitely a Philly thing. Who can eat a cheesesteak (wit') in makeup?

jane, you're so sweet. I like the latest me too. But I didn't even include the younger me with counts and rock stars... uh, unless you count Ozzy O.

B1, the many faces indeed. But only ONE personality.

dj, nice to meet you and thanks!

Silkstone, I so love your new avatar, it almost breathes.... the only thing I wear in public is sunscreen. I'm open cuz it's the only way I know how to be.

latethink, thank you, I love how we all look different in my family, yet still related, if that makes sense. For most people pred usually thins the hair and fattens the face but only that one time for me. It was nice to have at least that benefit.
I missed Dakini again!! YOU are the one who looks the best. How can you possibly be *60*??? Talk about good genes!
I so admire you and everyone who does this, being so out there. I'm traveling around now, but enjoy seeing the fresh faces. Feel I know you. Love your smile!
You all are entirely too brave for me. The camera and I have a deal -- I stay out of its face and it stays out of mine.
WalkAwayHappy, thank you, but your name alone (plus your sweet avatar) tells me we could sit and talk for hours. Which, btw, I can do anyway... or listen.

Lea, the only way we'll know each other better is when we travel together. Which is *going to happen.* In the meantime, I'll settle for FL next month.

Tom, the camera hates me, I have to work SO hard to find non-Brundhilda-like pics. I like your avatar, it totally says You, tough but tender. So the camera got that one right. I maybe took this simple open call to another level, but hey, that's me, not gonna change me now.

QUESTION to Ladies of a Certain Age: as great a compliment as it is to hear "lovely," do you find you miss hearing "sexy?" (Well, I hear it from L'Hubby, but he's brainwashed). Hmmm, I feel a post coming on....
Oh! I really like the hair in that last one! You have such a beautiful smile. :)
Great, fabulous pics. Looking at the one when you had hand surgery, can I just say how much I sympathize with your "sensitivities"? I know someone who would need both arms to list them all.

Funny how I see the most constant thing in those photos is your amazing dazzling smile. Your look may have changed a bit from time to time, but that smile remains the same.

Thumbed for naked joy. ;-D
odette, thank you, you inspired me. :)

Bill, ditto thank you, and btw, they gave up on the bracelets and just taped a big list to my chest inside a sterile bag.

This is so odd, though, because I have a hard time smiling in pics, though I try to do it a lot in life!
Bill notices your smile, I notice the simple clear directness of your gaze. It's quite remarkable. I like your hair color in the current avatar - very warming and pretty.
Cindy, I've thought of that too. Just saying Jesus, put some make up on, willya? But as much as I love a good joke I hate the idea of anyone feeling stung by my humor when they can't seem me grinning behind the words. So I refrained. But this does remind me when we had to post our avatars for the OS poster...and then everyone started commenting on them! What does one do when people start giving your pic thumbs up?! It was sweet, but unsettling.
I don't wear much either. Deep down, I'm a tomboy and I usually end up smearing something somewhere. Great pictures Sally!
great pics, sally.
You have NOTHING to be ashamed of, face-wise...'naked' or not! I always laughed (guess I still do) when my friend(s) tell me they have to 'put on their face'...i.e., put on makeup so they can feel presentable!?! Only women...men seem blissfully unaware that they need a 'different' face to show the world. Alas, perhaps some of 'em would benefit from a little concealer or powder; none-the-less, I often (gasp) leave the house sans makeup and no one who's seen me this 'way' has dropped dead looking! Nice post...look forward to reading your blog on a regular basis.
You missed me "again"? What was the other time?
Keepin' score Sally, just so you know.........

(PS loved Ab Fab, 'specially when they went to Morocco)
By the look of it (the New Year's Eve 2008-9 photo) you're getting younger. How did you do that and can I try?
