I'm short on time tonite but I feel compelled to mention a few things.

It's sad that so few of us have a direct connection to the land nowadays - the day of the small farmer is passing quickly.  I'm grateful that some are still able to maintain that connection and that others of us can live vicariously through them.

 This American Life is such a great radio program (and pretty good TV show too).  I can't believe I get to download the podcast for free - it's like stealing.  (I do support public radio, so it's not really free - but it feels free)

 I'm in awe of Padraig Colman.  Check out his writings here on Open Salon.  I got to raise my game. 

Someone described a committee I chair as perfunctory and I said "I like to think I put the funk in perfunctory".  I amuse myself.
