If you've posted a story that fits into the  basket that includes  health care system, insurance, doctors, the need for heath care reform, and you are OK with the story getting wider distribution, please reply to this post in the comments section wtih a link to your post.

I am especially interested in personal stories of people struggling in the current system.

Sandra, I have been posting a whole lot...!!http://open.salon.com/blog/stellaa/2009/10/21/healthcare_reform_robust_public_option (on the side are all the other blogs) what I tried to do is break down the issue into manageable bits.
You would do well do heed the words of The Hat Sandra and check out my latest post.
Sandra,
This is a wonderful idea. Stellaa's link goes to a 404 error code. This should lead your readers to it: Click Here
I have several on related issues Sandra but found this one that might fit, although I have no idea what you are up to...

Dennis, thank you.
Sandra, I addressed health care reform twice:

Last month, when they took the public out of health care reform by removing the public option.

You, my dear Sandra, are one sharp gal. :-D

Hi Sandra. Thanks for this effort. I'm not smart about how to post a link the proper way. Here's the thingy...

http://open.salon.com/blog/ck_dexter_haven/2009/08/18/dear_us_have_we_got_a_minute_to_talk_about_health_care

This post got some good circulation outside of OS. I know that the nonprofit CERF (Craft Emergency Relief Fund) sent it to all of their employees. It's about the self-employed... the makers, fixers, servers who need coverage.
Sandra,
Here you go...http://open.salon.com/blog/blue_in_tx/2009/08/22/a_sincere_disagreement_on_health_care_really
and, sort of indirectly, http://open.salon.com/blog/blue_in_tx/2009/08/11/personal_story_wimpy_white_boy_miracle
Obviously, I need a link posting lesson....Sorry.
Here is my first link:

And here's my second link, I hope they work?

In this post, I have talked about issues that are, curiously, not getting any attention at all. At least a couple of which would, I expect, gladden even a nay-sayer's heart.

Health care - big elephants in the room
For some time, I've been posting on what is for me the truest measure of who and what we are as a nation -- how we care for each other. Or as it was said by someone wiser than me "as you have done unto the least of these, so even have you done unto me."

This is my personal favorite:

I think these are worth reading, too:

And for those who prefer a little honey to make the medicine go down better, there's this:

Rod Emmons wrote an excellent post a while back that takes the politics out of it and puts the humanity back into it. I will try to find it and pm you the link. Don't have much time. xoxo
The premise of this one is---if health care reform means, who has the most powerful lobby. Then find the country's most powerful lobby, one that has won their battles already, a proven success----and pay them. Cut out the politician middle man. Lobbyists all do the same thing. And they all do it for money. So pay these guys.
They are not real busy and they are good at what they do.

I forgot, I also posted these earlier in the summer:

Okay…so I admit I have been a little obsessed:

I wrote about why health care should not be in the hands of your employer. I will be posting a second one soon, along the same lines but with a different example.
Damn! I copied mine from a Word file and they got cut off. Let me know if you want me to muck it up again by trying to paste 'em in directly. Sorry.
Does this qualify: "Guess What? We Already Have Death Panels"?

Hi Sandra,

I wrote one post about Will's surgery and how it wiped us out financially despite having health insurance; I also wrote about my son Mike and his having to pay Banner Health for walking into their emergency room.

I am absolutely okay with these being read more! If you've got a way to make that happen, fantastic! Thanks!
Here ya go, Miss Sandra.

Sandra, one of the most gut-wrenching ones can be found on Dorinda Fox's blog. The one about Senators Blanche Lincoln and Bill Nelson hate me. It was published in the Arkansas papers and caused quite an uproar there.

My office just received a 41% increase on our BC/BC premium. Like the credit card companies, they are trying to get in huge increases ahead of reform. It is anecdotal, but I imagine very normal. I posted this tidbit on Bill Nelson of Florida's Facebook page which is taking comments at this time to bring to Pres. Obama. Most are in favor of a public option -- it is heartening to read that thread. In spite of the media's attempts to cover same, the public WANTS a public option.
http://open.salon.com/blog/dorinda_fox/2009/09/29/blanche_lincoln_and_bill_nelson_dont_give_a_damn_about_me

Link for Dorinda's Post.
I wrote this three years ago in a different venue:

http://rxforhealth.typepad.com/blog/2006/08/health_reform_c.html

It deals with separating health insurance from employment.
