We must go back into the past to find a common ground.
Or less I fear all future rides on a dizzying merry-go-round!
I lost you at the fair one day; I looked and you were gone.
I stayed awake crying all night until the early dawn.
Empty rides, popcorn strewn, such a saddened scene.
Everything is such a mess; shall we ever get it clean?
It was at the fair that I fell in love; now I come to realize.
We played the games and you won me a most precious prize.
Riding with you to the top on the roller coaster, what a thrill!
Wrapped your arms around me, protecting me from the chill.
There closing it all down now; I heard the other day.
New developments and high-rises are being put up to stay.
And this is what they call progression?
How can it be so, when I only feel oppression?
I asked you to meet me here once again for one last chance.
To walk with you back in time before the latest advance.
You know, even with it all taken down, I'll never let it go.
The fair, what a time, what a ride, what a show!
