It's the time of season for giving.
So much we wish to acquire.
Hurried past is the thanksgiving.
And onto all selfish desire -
Harried rush to the stores.
Stressing out on what to buy.
Shoppers run amuck on the floors.
Heaving heavy with a sigh.
What foolish people do!
Not even minutely aware.
For all they so accrue -
They haven't themselves to share!
The gift that would befit -
It's not one with a price.
You certainly can not buy it!
It comes from being nice.
A simple little thought  -
As you rush about your day -
Doesn't matter what's been bought!
It's the niceness you convey.

Very true. The folks I saw today were remarkably well behaved, all in all. I like nice. /R
Thanks for your fine piece. You helped me deal with the onslaught of the media, reminding us lesser acquisitive souls, that there are, surely
more noble goals. Thanks for sharing your poem with us.
[r] so well said! best, libby
