found a bug on a milkweed shoot. the heroes at bugguide peg this for Swamp Milkweed Leaf Beetle (Labidomera clivicollis)

 

The false solomon’s seal flowers were looking particularly fetching.

I watched this guy make his way up to and through this fan of stamens.

I love the combination of pink and green in your first photo! Would you please tell me again what macro lens you use for these pictures. My birthday is coming up and I'm hoping for a new lens (if it's not too expensive). I love taking close ups of nature, but can't get as close as you with my current lens (zoom 18-200 or 50mm prime). Thank you, again!
