I have a job.  In fact, as of this week, I have two new jobs, an embarrassment of riches in a state where 1 in 8 people is unemployed.  Hooray.  I am excited about every part of this except for the part where, starting now, I'm going to be in an office for about 45 hours a week, not counting the hour I spend every day sitting at my desk with my lunch. Neither of my new jobs is  related to writing or politics, and neither will allow much time for maintaining my usual level of involvement with either.

Which means the easygoing time of near-daily posts at Open Salon are at the very least on an indefinite hold for me. I can't quite say they're over, because that sounds too grim, but I need a little time to reorganize myself and my time before I get back to a posting schedule here.

So think of this as a little Away message, of the type that you might see on Google Talk or Instant Messenger, letting you know that the party behind the Post-it is currently engaged in a bunch of other crap and, while she'd rather be talking with you, she currently can't commit as much time as she'd like to the conversation.

Play nicely in my absence.  I hope to see you all again soon.  And do drop me a message now and then.
