He is a con artist, a manipulator, a sage, a cult figure, and an insane person. But mostly he is cold-blooded murderer with no respect for human life. He is disgusting to me. R-

Scanner, I'm with you. He is one dude that always scared me. I can't conceptualize why he would have any followers or admirers after the henious crime he committed. Even his pictures scare me and give me the creeps. Whether it's because of a biological or chemical aberation he was born with or whatever, he is evil all the way through! His crime against Sharon is one of the darkest of crimes and it can still make me shudder when I think of her suffering.

Scanner..what Linda said is true..in wanting to find our identities, we humans seem to jump on the ' let's shock everyone' wagon, when we were young. They must not know his actual crimes. Isn't that basically what the 60's was about? And to this day..the dress, the hair, the piercings, body modifing etc. Alot of that is for 'shock' or' look at me' value. Sometimes I think to myself, how can a guy like him still be walking the earth, when so many other people, who are victims of the economy have no job, no place to live, nothing to eat and here he sits, like an idol of some kind, with a roof over his head, food to eat and his fans. Crimes like this make it hard for me not to support capitial punishment. In her case, her rehabilitation sounds and feels genuine, so why is she trapped forever by the misguided drug induced crime of her youth, are the two types of criminals really the same? I am not making an argument for release or the death penalty, I am just sharing my real confusion about the whole thing, there are so many criminals, child molester come to mind, wandering around to do damage again and again, then you have this women's case. I am strange, maybe, but I just can't look into the eyes of a mass murdered, ANY mass murder. They Always, ALWAYS have demon eyes. I have, at one point in my life looked at an after picture to see if the demon eyes leave after jail. They don't seem to.
Children who worship this man need to be set in front of footage from that time and forced to watch what his "clan" did!

I know we do not always agree on things but I agree with you whole heartedly that this animal is where he belongs. I believe he should have received the same cards that he dealt.

Unfortunately, people will follow blindly and let themselves be led down the wrong road because it gives them a feeling of belonging. These animals will take advantage of that.

There may have been plenty of books written about Manson but the vast majority of them are probably useless and overlook some of the most important aspects of his activities and his background. Manson was raised in a violent way far more violent than most abused children and this is a major reason how he turned out so vicious. I don’t say this as an excuse but as an explanation. Saying he is just evil is too quick and easy without explaining anything. Most if not all of his followers were also raised in abusive homes especially those that participated in the crimes.

They were also raised to follow the orders of authority figures and when they left home for one reason or another Manson became that authority figure. In order to understand this you have to understand cult indoctrination methods. Manson understood this and his followers didn’t understand it in a way that enabled them to stand up to him. Manson may have learned his manipulation tactics from the Church or other organizations that use them on a routine basis.

Most of the attention to Manson hasn’t involved understanding the cause and effect of cult activity which is why it keeps happening again and again. If society taught the public about the extensive damage done by child abuse and the way cults manipulate their followers many of these problems could be prevented but some of the greatest manipulators are those in power and they don’t want an educated public that will stand up to them.
