Making Love to the Wind~

Rate: 29 Flag

OldManI

As a child I loved to wander

to run with clouds up high

to follow my nose where it led me

to find things never lost

to look for four leaf clovers

and find places unknown

to talk to different strangers

and make them strange no more

to laugh at things not funny

to smile when I should cry

to stay a child forever

to never grow old and angry

to never know the meanness

of adults who never laugh

who get ahead by any means

while the weak are left behind

I found this task to be impossible

but it didn't hurt to try

and stave off the inevitable

who would I love to emulate?

at one time anyone but me

but I have now changed

I now want to grow up to be me

and if I can keep progressing

before I pass on to dark places

I want to be all I can be

what's wrong with that

you always tried to find me

you would never tell me why

now that I'm an old man

coming back from where I've been

I've been away for ages

making love to the wind

Nice way to start my day (a little late, I know, damned cat kept me up half the night.)
As someone who has past her "prime," I get what you're saying. If only we had the wisdom back then.....
What a delightful way to start my day--Scanner's words and George Jones' voice.
Making love to the wind sounds like fun.
With George Jones singing as I write this let me just say, scanner your day is here and now and I got no doubt you'll be a better man tomorrow. The Dude abides.
If we knew what we did now.... but honestly I think we would have lived things the same.
HUGGGGGGGGGGGG
It seems we always learn too late. Nice one, Scanman.
This is one of the most thoughtful, inspiring pieces I have ever read on OS. I think the title is so inspiring too. I wanted to read this for the title. Thanks for sharing this today.
really very pretty you have a light touch when you want to hve one and that's critical for a writer r.
This is incredible. I love it!
Maybe every day can be that day
'Nother good one Scan Man!!!

(and Happy St Paddy's Day to ye!)

.
Beautiful and clear. I love these views into you. Thank you.
Really liked this, scanner. Staying true to oneself turns out to be the best thing. R
Scanner, I love that you tried the impossible first. Great deeds are only attempted by great hearts. It's a windy day here today - maybe I'll go outside!
I read a good anecdote recently. Frank Sinatra is holding forth at some event at which Keith Richards is in attendance. Sinatra says "George Jones is the second-best singer in the business." Richards, not missing a beat, asks "Who's first, Frank?"
Bravo! Scanner, this is beautiful!

I can't think of any better place to be than this, "I now want to grow up to be me." Loved this!
Well, Scan, you have been holding out on us.
You are a Grandmaster PoetPhilosopher , it seems…
These lines are devastating:
“coming back from where I've been
I've been away for ages”…
I too decided never to grow old.
I proudly bear the burden of being “rather immature for your age”.
It just never interested me, to be an “adult”.
Now I am frequently mistaken for one. Haw!

More great lines:
“who would I love to emulate?
at one time anyone but me
but I have now changed
I now want to grow up to be me
and if I can keep progressing
before I pass on to dark places
I want to be all I can be”
What beautiful words, making love to the wind.
Lovely poem.
rated with love
They call the wind "Mariah." I love her, too.
Scanner. I've been very windy too.
I think poet 'Frosty Froth' is okay.
He may be #2,000 PM ed to me.

`
He a new 'Stranger' in town.
They come from the beyond.
Strangers hum a simple song.

The heart goes `round/round.
Heart is a 'seat' `emotion beats.
It's the simple`melody/hominy.
It's heard in the `wind/meadow,
and mountain's `harmony/hum.

`
I got to read and catchup on cats.

I have not listened to George Jones in so long I forgot how his voice moves me. I love where you went, what you said, who you are...
Really really really well thought out and well written!!!
[r] very rich. reminds me of lines from TS Eliot's "Little Gidding" from the Four Quartets:

"We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time."
"I now want to grow up to be me"

That seems as good a description of contentment and success in life as I can imagine.
Maybe your secret lovers name is really Windy? Great prose and sentimental thoughts that surpass and surprise us just like the wind on the up side of a cliff looking out out over the bay of disbelief and more. See you inspired me!

I forgot to mention the song by FZ ...anyway the wind blows...
This is utterly amazing and delicious and memorize-able. I can see you, a young boy smiling when you are supposed to cry... Just the most beautiful imagery and not disappointing at all at the end.
"now that I'm an old man
coming back from where I've been
I've been away for ages
making love to the wind "

Were the answers in the wind? r
hilarad, yes. The answers are found in the wind. And the Sand. And the Waves. And the Stars. But, most are found at the end of your nose. You had had them all along. Being KIND to your fellowman fixes all man's problems, everywhere. Thanks~
