I think the ad was made by the same person that made the Dale Peterson ads in Alabama.

Obscene? Yes of course it is obscene without a doubt but the sad thing is that this is the sort of ads that, over the past three or four elections, has become accepted.

It speaks directly to how we the public are percieved by the Media. We are the Mob who are easily swayed by such tactics. They know that if they tap into our fears and prejudices they can sway a large percent of the electorate.

It is up to us....the "Mob" to prove them wrong and until they can be shown that such ads only hurt their clients, they will continue.

The height of cynicism. Shame on Ms. Hahn for creating this ad just to get backlash donations to her campaign. But Kudos for originality, and shout-outs to the black performers willing to demean themselves just to help this worthy candidate.

I only lived in LA for 15 years, during which her father was an effective county supervisor, so I have donated to her campaign just to insure that these deeds don't go unpunished. Besides, Jerry Brown needs all the help he can get.

I'd love to move back to L.A. just as soon as the big one hits and I can be sure I am buying beachfront property and not Continental Shelf.

Thanks ScanMan--this is also an indictment of us as a society where garbage like this is seen as an effective means of cajoling votes. What kind of moron would be moved to vote in a certain way by this? I guess an ultra-conservative paranoid whose latent racism would be triggered. The amazing thing to me is in finding African American performers who would prostitute themselves enough to play in this ad.

I agree with l'Huere (and I had an uncle who sounds like her dad -- even LOOKED like Archy Bunker). When I saw this last night I thought - bad parody of a Dave Chappell skit -- but then I realized it was real. Holy S#@t!!!!! It will be our own fault, though, if the 2012 elections bring in more bozos who rally the great unthinking into going to the polls while we wring our hands and feel sorry for ourselves.

Is this a real ad? I had to keep my self from laughing up lunch! It is on the level of SNL, but not as well edited. I can't imagine a single voter could take that seriously, but it might bring in the vote for Hahn for some of our harder core voters.

It struck me as more of a gonzo satire of an attack ad. It's paid for by a PAC who have Repub/TP leanings. But they claim they are unaffiliated so you can donate as much as you like for more of the same. Like a few others here, I don't think it would be very effective but I'm not the best of judges when it comes to political marketing.

This is also so bad it is a little bit funny too.

Having lived in that congressional district, I know that Janice Hahn is just about a shoo-in to win. And this shows you how marginalized, and what a bunch of KKKers the GOPsters are in that neck of the woods.
