Spring has Sprung~pics

I went out this morning and took a few photos of my yard. The yardman did his first cutting and weed-eating of the year yesterday. $45 bucks this year, Ouch! But, with gas as high as it is and my huge yard, it's not a bad price. My son knows him and he lives within spittin' distance so he gives us a good deal.

This first pic, obviously, is not of my yard. It's a picture of my dad that I found last year. It was in terrible shape and I've been working on it. I finally have it were it looks pretty good for a picture that is at over 70 years old. His 90th birthday is coming up and I still miss him. I have no idea why is he dressed for church and holding a double-barrel shotgun, but I do cherish this photo and wanted OS to see my "pop's" as a young whippersnapper. He died at 43 of Leukemia, the kind that can be cured today. I love you Dad!

I'm sorry I haven't been around the last few days. I'm working on my book, finally, and I'm going through CreatSpace to do it. I'm having to do it on the cheap, so I'm doing everything but the front cover, which is just too complicated for a computer idiot like me. Plus, you need a profession illustrator or as Cranky has, a very talented daughter. My daughter, as much as I love her, has trouble with stick figures.

I hope to have it out in a week or two. I do not expect to even get my money back.  If you write a book expecting to make money without agents and big companies behind you, you're either very lucky or naive. Of course, there are exceptions. I would bet Cranky's book does great and I know my buddy Linda's book is going to be a Killer. My book is rather dark and definitely "R" rated. But, I will have a book out and my family is going to be very pissed when they open up their Christmas presents this year, hah~~Have a good one~~

Lovely Azaleas. Hi Sadie! If you need some illustrations let me know. I would love to do some for you.
i would love to help make the cover, really. a gift from me to you.
Some one has a good green thumb; I'm sure Sadie must love playing in that garden.
Great flower pics. I'd say you're geting a deal for $45. Around here for that kind of money they'd mow down the azaleas, thinking they were weeds.

Oh, good luck with your book! I see you already have some cover art offers.
Great pictures. I love Spring but it's much too early this year. Sadie is a sweetie./r
The snobs around here have a thing against azaleas, but I love them. Sexy Sadie is just adorable. Can't wait for the book.

Wonderful sights friend.
Keep that doggie far away from the pavement. She looks like she is growing fine.
and glad to hear from ya.
I worry.
"My daughter, as much as I love her, has trouble with stick figures."

Ain't nothing wrong with stick figures!! ~:D

PRETTY!! I need to get out and work on my lawn, already could use a mow and I think this year, I'm going to rip out some more of the ground shrubs the previous owners put in on the front....
Love your photos, and your dog is so dang cute!!
don't shoot! I was only jogging!
I miss having a yard! Ain't too many yards in SoCal and none at all when you're in a second story apartment.
Cool on the book ScanMan!
Did you copy me? That is the name of my last night's post?
Sweet Azaleas! I'm getting stuffy just looking at them! ACHOO! They are gorgeous though, nice work on the angles and lighting. My pics ususally turn out like snapshots from Battlestar Galatica...only worse.
Good to see ya by the way!
i am wracking my brain trying to think of a reason
for your dad to pose thusly. He looks like a fellow
one does NOT wish to f. with, is all i can mangage.

Congrats on your hard work " paying" off, re. the book.
Delighted to hear it is R rated. I hate the PG 13 stuff.
as for the spring springing stuff,
i'd say you got your money's worth from your scrupulou yardman.
spring sprung a bit, but now it's summer suddenly
here in the northeast. 80 degrees, cloudless skies.
God loves us well.
Such a card! Love your beautiful azaleas. Really lovely. And Sadie does have a cute face.
Love your yard. Girlfriend is just too cute.
I've never seen so many azaleas in one place.
Great photos, spring is sprunging so early here, but no flowers yet.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful yard.
rated with love
Scanner, nice photos of your dad, your K-9 pal Sadie, and a great looking horticultural display there at your place! In addition, that's wonderful news about the progress on your book! Please keep us posted about that.
What a beautiful garden you have....Liked your images, although I am a winter ρerson myself..Thanks for sharing.. Best regards..
Looks as I expected it might. Nothing like North Carolina in the Spring. I love the wild dogwood, the redbud and the rhododendron.
Much like we had in VA. Miss all of that. Florida is nice, but it is getting time to head north.
Loved the pics and sadie..
sad to say I am doing my book the old fashioned way. Its done and at my friend Mary who is checking it and then it goes to a brick and mortar publisher.
Man its like birthing a babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
CANT WAIT SCANNER for yours.
HUGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Thanks for the great comments. I just got back from the doctor. Terri is having a heart cauterization done Monday, and we were doing the pre-op, which if you've ever done it, well.., Patricia, I'm sorry if I stole your title. I haven't even had time to cruise OS the last couple of days. Once I started at Create, I had to do a lot of re-writing and even added 4000 more words if you can imagine. Z and dianaani, I will be in touch shortly, thank you for the offer and I will PM you this evening. Thank you. I know I have to catch up with some reading and I thank you for coming by.
How about some pictures of azaleas on your book cover. Because those are beautiful.
A man, his yard and his girl - all grand. :-)
What a surprise ending! There's plenty of talent here on OS among your friends who I'm sure would be happy to help you with your cover. In fact, I see you already have two volunteers - two ladies, in fact, fighting over you! BTW, you have one damned fine yardman. Great photo of your dad. You don't suppose he was ordering some damned kids off his front yard? Too young for that. OK, bubba, where's your hoodie??
Matt, how's that? Hah~!~~
Looks like you played an extra in Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Maybe Dianaani could Photoshop your mug into the hood. Thanks for joining the march, bubs.
The Producers is great. So is spring. And azaleas. And dogs. Not necessarily in that order.
it amazes me how much I miss when I've not been on OS. Interesting events going on in our family and I seem to be in the middle of it. I look forward to having routine (and OS) back in my life.
Love the mass of one colour.
43. Too young. It must be a source of pain to know that if it happened now, he would probably survive.
Hope all goes well with your wife.
Oh my this reminds me of my grandmothers house that had flowers like this when I was a boy down south. Thanks for sharing and more.
With "Springtime for Hitler" playing on the laptop, I'm amazed I missed this post... must have slipped past me with the OS Million Hoodie stuff up front.... anyway I working on my second cup of coffee and for the first time this morning I got a smile on my face... I don't get the chance to smile that often... Thanks Dude!
