Baby Bird Eggs Hatched ~Pics

Rate: 41 Flag

These are my babies. My baby birds that the mom for three years in a row has had on my back-porch. Mother nature is a wonderful thing and this made my day, watching the very beginning of life. There are one or two more. One egg must have fell out or the mother was moving it and dropped it. I found it and it looked OK, but when I put it back in the nest, she pecked it into pieces. I know not why. Maybe she knew something was wrong with it. But, we have some more and I'll keep flashing away to give you a look. Enjoy~

We once had pigeons that nested in a hanging fern on our back porch in LA. It was the best though I worried like a grandparent. They did just fine without me.
Rob, I was worried also, even though this is the third year. The one that dropped looked fine, Maybe it was the human smell, or it had a small crack, but I hated it died. But the rest are doing great!:-)
Scanner, that's a great Good News Wednesday story if ever I saw one!
Pop's farm had a fence post with a hole about six inches wide... every year the same bluejays nested there. Cats never bothered them.
Neat photos! I'm surprised at the protective film over the hatchlings, unlike chickens who start walking and drying out as soon as they pip their way free of the egg. As these swallows?
Ask the proprietor of the local Chinese joint how much he will give you for them
that is the savage mother we were born of: Mother Nature.

some say the Mother should have the world. i say, she
ought to share it with the Great Father.

my dad would, for example, tell me mom's punishment was unfair
and i didnt have to go by it. but i had to pretend i did. smart guy,
george.
Your post brightened a frustrating day. At my river house, I have a pair of mallards who raise their young every spring where I can watch from across the river. And my eagle (MYeagle--how silly) came back the other day to fish.
Scanner,
your snapshots are a real treat.
New life is always a reason for hope and joy.
A few years ago, during my longer absense, birds had built their nest in the box of the jalousie above my balcony door.
When they noticed me,it was too late for them to move. They both did a courageous job raising their hatchlings. (Phoenicurus phoenicurus)

Thank you.

That cheered me up no end. Great post.
Incredible photos. I learned to fill the pots on my porch with rocks until I plant annuals after I found baby birds in them. They were a joy to see, but I worried about them too much. I came home one day and they had flown the nest. So much for worrying.
i got a bird sanctuary in my backyard by the river
their dawn's and evening's chorus is magical
So beautiful, scanner! R
Put your mind at ease about that other egg. Chicks often die in the egg while in the early stages of development. The mother bird has hearing acute enough that she can hear which eggs have a heartbeat inside of them. Most birds will push an egg without that heartbeat out of the nest or otherwise get rid of it.

Loved your photos...!

.
They are so ugly to become so beautiful...
The cycle of life is so magical. Thanks for sharing this with us, Scanner.

I had a nest in a shrub in my front yard, but I think the mother was new and built it too low. One day the immature chicks were gone, and I suspect one of our frequent fox visitors had a small snack. It makes me sad, but that's the cruelty of nature...
I LOVE baby birds!! Slather on some BBQ sauce and bam...what? :D
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

so cute.
HUGGGGGGGGGG
Yes, Scanner! What type of birds, eh? BEsides, cute, pathetic, vulnerable........got a species? Fun pics. Rated RRR
They're sparrows Robin. At least I think so. You could take all I know about birds and write a book with no pages.
Watching over new life is a gift. It's areal joy having you share this gift with us here.

I was amazed at how fast the little guys grew to be the yellow birds at the end.
So sweet, and their boogly closed eyes make me smile. Thanks for the photos!
Beautiful to see them this season!
Aaah, Spring! A river runs through the town where I live, and this time of year the baby geese are hatching. They are too cute and mom and dad work very hard to protect them. R
I don't think I have seen baby birds that new and tiny before...great pictures.

Watching them grow will be a beautiful unfolding Scanner..such a softie you are.

You will now have to name them.
Don't they make you feel hopeful?
Your babies are adorable, Scanner! Thank you for sharing them! :)
Congrats papa! Ha the ones in the film look like clay ball.
Scanner, I became emotionally overwhelmed at this post...simply miraculous and curious at the same time. Rated with admiration.
Your good thing is getting even better. : )
Miguela Holt y Roybal, no, they are in a plastic potted plant I keep on my back porch. 3 years in a row, I love it!
Deservedly, a proud papa.
So sweet, even though I can almost hear you (though I know not your voice) say, oh Christ, it's interesting but not sweet. Great story.
awwwww

btw, do you use this moniker on FB? If not, then someone else does. Let me know and I will forward the link.
I know exactly what you mean scanner, about being fortunate to see Mother Nature's wonder right there in your back yard or porch.

Great news when new life rises. Right now, though I may never see them at their trees, I have at least two pairs of Green Herons nesting and raising their chicks on my property (photos soon -- not of the babies, though) possibly as many as four pairs of nesting adults.

Just getting to see babies of any sort (even human ones) is a thrill for some reason.

--rr--
The miracle of Nature! I saw the birth of baby kittens once, and they were no less wonderous. Those baby birds look almost transparent, so fragile, vulnerable. Thanks for sharing these pictures, Scanner! May they have a safe and happy life.
