Bio
The way I see things or the view from here. Scarlett is happiest when passions are fulfilled and true colors revealed. She finds truth most often stranger than fiction. She also feels love and outrage properly channeled can be revolutionary. Sometimes she can be seen around town with Jack Pine. She realizes that through her nom de plume she leaves herself wide open someday to hear the phrase "Frankly Scarlett, I don't give a damn." So with that now out of the way...

Jeanette,
Thank You for starting the conversation and planting the seed. Oh, I am in a mood tonight after getting the low down on idiocy. Time to remember who we are now and who we were!
I remember the movie - Harper Valley PTA -- with Barbara Eden. It played on The Stars Channel in the late 70's. I was in my early teens and still found the premise ridiculous, but I was entertained, snickering at all the backward attitudes. Little did I know I'd be in my mid forties -- no laughing at all -- about those same attitudes.
Bell! I know! Where were these old bozos and what were they thinking then? They were lying on mattresses covered with Indian print bedspreads, tripping and listening to Jimi turned up to ten, while balling their old ladies, is what.
Bell(e): True dat. Just a few songs here from a time when things were lookin' up...? WTF happened? I think I know ... but still I will ask that question. Thanks for coming by.

this post is not about anything except music made by women that meant something.

Could have come through anytime,
Cold lonely, puritan
What are you fighting for ?
It's not my security.

Oops . This is one of those wimminz posts.
'scuse me. I'll back up and leave now.
Some feisty women there Scarlett but no Feist? I'd venture to say there's a message here, but as Monty Python said of Australian table wines "This is a bottle with a message in it and the message is...BEWARE".
green: I threw in Patti there just for you. xx

Aka: "this post is not about anything except music made by women that meant something." Okay, you're right maybe it is about something else too. No need to back out; there's room for you too. I'm being quite soft here really. After all it's the 21st century now. I think !!

Abrawang: Just a few tunes, that's all. Just three. Don't mean to be sacrilegious (sp?) they just might be part of a holy trinity though or something like that. Hhmm, there's the connection ...women, wine and song. Did I tell you I'm on antibiotics? -- No wine. Just a sharp dose of reality for me.
Oh yeah? Take another little piece of my heart, now baby. Maybe I could drink a case of you. Crown and anchor me. ...

But never, ever, Johnny get angry.
Well I hope you get over that short, sharp, shock of reality pronto Scarlett. I guess the wine, women and song theme could make for an interesting OC. Musically I'd go with Sangria Wine by Jerry Jeff Walker, Killer Queen or Ruby Tuesday (depending on my mood and since Gloria is already spoken for) and the Beatles version of Rock 'n Roll Music.
Three tracks I love. Had never seen Jeannie C. doing that lipsync before -- great vintage clip. As you know, I've met and interviewed Marianne and she simply couldn't have been nicer.
Thanks for the Patti Smith. Always wanted to be her except maybe shave my armpits hahah
HUGGGGGGGGGG
Abra: Feist's Secret Heart would have been a good one for V's Day.

I love it when we get a good helping from north of the 49th here: Bo, Linda & Various.

Bo: Nice. Those American politicians dudes are more like Johnny Come Lately ?? Oh yeah ...

Linda: What, ... you never tried the Patti 'let it grow' phase? ;)

Various: I'd never seen PTA in that version either. That sync isn't so great but they get a good close-up of JCR. Please write about Marianne. Don't tell anyone but I used to do her real nasty song, "Why'd You Do It?" I loved it. Yup, those were the days. :)
It's strange times... Maybe ye olde pendulum? But wait, that was a rather unpleasant Edgar Allen Poe tale...
love the combo, scarlett, and boanerges's comment! whoo!
Myriad: Yes, it was the PIT and The Pendulum as I recall.

Candace: Strong voices in pop culture. Time to turn the tide again, I think. That B1's a clever one, isn't he? ...

Rita: Keep up the good fight ...
Wow! That first one is ancient history. It's deja vu...all over, again. These backstabbing, gossiping, slanderous sluts are also referred to in Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves, a Cher song.

You may remember this one as well...hope you get well soon, sweetness.
I always thought that Harper Valley PTA tapped into something primordial.
Listening to these super videos gave me just the break I needed and brought back a few memories. I love Marianne Faithful. Thanks.
R for old school nonmonogamy =)
may i say something decidedly unfeminist:
i dig your new avatar, you are one groovy chick!
i approve of wine, women , and song
in moderate quantities;
i am an heir of ben franklin, being elitist east coast,
so i am never immoderate. Never. Not even once.
I wonder what policies you would support
as Head of your local PTA...
(sorry i missed this post earlier...dog sitting...for a damn dog
who never sits still......)
Love Patti, love Marianne. Gosh, whatever happened to strong women in rock?
