my review

This is a good movie for the time period it was made.
Claudette Colbert is an awesome actress, and during those cinema days, most actresses refused to be seen with true grit. So the pressed clothes, clean hair and faces, and perfect coifs kind kept you in touch with the here and now.
I have seen quite a few movies from this same script, tho I cannot recall their names. This would be a perfect script for a remake. The title is almost a spoiler. The child who plays the young son - George, was a great Little actor. Impressive. The description of the movie is accurate, couldn't give you more plot than that. It's a good watch, not great, not bad.
