(Ha-Gilgul)Filmmaker Nati Baratz follows the spellbinding journey of Tibetan Buddhist monk Tenzin Zopa as he travels far and wide to identify the child who is the reincarnation of his deceased master, Lama Konchog. Acting on instructions from the Dalai Lama, the shy Zopa relies on astrology, dreams and other signs to locate the child, knowing that if he succeeds, he must also convince the boy's parents to release their child into his care.

And it is TWO movies. One is a documentary, the other, a movie playing after the concept that perhaps an American, or a female, is the re-incarnated Lama
I watched "little Buddah" with Keanu Reeves and was compelled to watch this because of my interest in the here after.
It is hard to fathom giving birth to a Lama, much less having him be found much like the christchild with only the stars and dreams to guide you. Science could not take this romantic notion from me.
I was curious, why the artifact pearls? Perhaps from all the white silk being burned.
And the footprint? Yes these things could be explained, but why not believe? T
enzin Zopa starts his journey with a kind and spiritual heart. Running across many children, all laughing, accepting candy and running away from "big uncle" as Tenzin is nicknamed.
Finally he reaches a poor dwelling where a child has been born, grubby fingers runny nose, sitting on his father's lap oblivious to Uncle. The beads Tenzin has been carrying were his own bright orange prayer beads and the late departed Lama Konchog's less eye-catching crystal beads.
All the children up until that time showed very little interest.
As Tenzin pulls them out, the dirty faced toddler is stopped in his tracks and starts crying, demanding the beads. And not the brightly colored orange ones, but the plain crystal ones.
Tenzin gives him the beads and is hard pressed to get them back. This child is a wonder and I won't blow the story. As for reincarnatiion, I'll just let the mystery be.

7 yrs in tibet is pretty good too.
Little Buddah was a very interesting movie that brought the viewer to the Buddists without forcing the religious aspects.
