When Kurt Cobain Sang Come as You Are

Rate: 20 Flag

Did you know

I wanted you then

when I saw you in the light

turning the blue kaleidescope

pulled from your pocket while crossing the stream?

 kaleidescope

There is something in replicated knowledge,

the recognition, the patterned view of

translucent symmentry mirrored

between the scattered shards

of our bent lives.

It isn't as if our standard needs shaking. We

don't need to scramble.  I don't want

more than I have in this moment, in

this place, this quiet chamber

of heart.

Disturbed? The  words in your breast, the

chaotic sounds in summer, and the lyrics of

your  unexpected timing are gifted

sufficient. Expectations.  Pffft.

They're adrift too far,

too out of reach,

like Cobain's Nirvana.

Do I have a vision of us? Listen.

Strung unseen in the adjacent thicket

is one clear note accessed and sung by you.

Rated for poignant beauty, and again for Kurt:)
I am not a Kurt Cobain fan... but this is beautiful. I may have to check him out. Rated.
You, my dear, are like Lake Tahoe; so deep that no one's ever been there!!
thank you for this, scupper

kurt had a big heart, and so do you
My lord this is good.
I really liked this song. Probably the only cobain song I enjoy. Rated!
I wasn't a big fan, but I do remember when he jumped into the drums and injured his collar bone. This is good, very impressive!
This is so good...so sad and distant and personal...there must be something in the OS water today...xox
absolutely wonderful.
wordless I am.
Love, love, love the perfect ending. RAted.
Thank you for reading. This KC allusion fit for me. I hope you see the mix.
Your poetry always punches me in the gut with how honestly you speak and how unpretentious it is. This poem flies somewhere above my simple mind, and I catch myself re-reading it several times to truly understand it. Whether I comprehend every line and word doesn't matter, what I do understand is that you are truly gifted. Thanks for sharing that gift for this short time with all of us.
"I don't want

more than I have in this moment"

that is regal. also love the way your poetry frames, the picture, becomes the base for it, so it is held in perspective forming into the letter R or K or something - sculpting meaning out of emptiness

love does that somehow; pain? intensifies your awareness of the beauty of life, makes you want it, turns you towards it
"I don't want

more than I have in this moment, in

this place, this quiet chamber

of heart. "

Just beautiful, every word, all of it.
You have such depth to your writing.

rated for matters of the heart
Loved it! And the irony of that song, "And I swear that I don't have a gun..." Sad.
The visual imagery is stunning.

Scattered shards of our bent lives, indeed.

Exquisite vibration from this one.
Hey Scupper, Nirvana was the band that finally rescued me from my GNR obsession my first year of college. But your words are far more enlightening than anything Cobain ever put together. My favorite line is the same as most "I don't want more than I have in this moment...." It is compelling and uplifting to remember that some of us do not share in the insatiable appetites of our modern society. Thanks again for beautiful words.
Beautiful scupper. The imagery in the last line is particularly perfect.
Duaneart, Y', Annette and to the rest: Sincere thanks for reading.
love your poetry Scupper.
